Hi,
I have been lurking on these boards for over a year and you are all the best!
I have learned so much just from reading all of the expert tips and advice.
A big thanks to all of you!!!!

We have stayed at OKW and SSR so far because of the FL resident rates. We would not been able to to it otherwise. And we like having the convience of the kitchen etc. in the 1 bdrm. I have thought about buying into DVC, but it would not be cost efective at the moment since we only go for a few days once a year right now. (trying to talk DH into longer vacations). Also in the future if we were to buy, I would like to try as many of the resorts as possible before I decide where to buy.

Now for my question. Next year when we go, I would really like to try VWL.
Does anyone know if there is ever a FL resident discount for this resort, or do they only give it out to SSR and OKW?

Thanks in advance!

I've never seen it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Using FL resident rates we've only stay at the Resort Hotels never the villas. Have you tried renting points from a DVC member to get the WL Villas? I know there is a forum on here about it.

Forget it, it might not be a good idea. There seems to be more warnings about it now.

Yes, there are occasionally FL resident rates for VWL. We have been offered them in the past, but always prefer the Lodge itself. Someday we may try VWL though.

A few years ago I bought points from someone on the DVC board. I first looked at the person's history on the board by looking back at their previous posts. When the seller and I agreed to the transaction, they called and made the reservation in my name. They then faxed the printout to me. before I paid them, I also called to verify the reservation with DVC. I also called the day before we arrived, just to make sure everything was ok.

We stayed two nights at WL villas in one of the effeciencies. I thought it was smaller than a regular room at CSR and the Contemporary, but having the little kitchenette was nice.

Our stay was the first weekend in November and our total was around $225 for the two nights....a great price for WL.

I just tried getting a Fl res. discount at WLV for Aug 10th-12th. It came up with a discount.

Yes, although you don't see them as frequently because of the size of the resort. I stayed in a studio for 10 days last September on a AP discount, but there was also resident availability at the time (the AP discount was just a little better). I was hoping for one for this September, but because I'm going for 17 days, I could only get one for half the trip, and only in a studio. So I'm sticking with the AAA discount in a 1BR. If you really want to stay at VWL on a resident discount, you need to be prepared to book the day the discounts are released.
