I haven't posted on this board much... but I think it's time that I start doing my research on this. I got engaged at POR back in November and we set this date for Sep 2006. My fiance and I decided that it was most important to us to have all of our family and friends with us for our wedding and couldn't afford to get them all to WDW for the ceremony, so we're getting married closer to home. But, we are taking our honeymoon at WDW - and even better... my parents are going to pay for the hotel room with DVC points.
Has anyone used points for their honeymoon before? Do you know if the meal package or deluxe package can be added with the DVC points?
One more question (for now), which DVC resort would you suggest for the honeymoon? (our home resort is OKW, but it seems so far away from everything)

I'm not a DVC member but we use my aunt and uncle's points quite often now. There is no meal plan for DVC member's and you can't add one as of now. But I've heard recently that they might be/are adding a DVC only meal plan at the end of April 06. My suggestion is to have your mother call and ask about this sometime soon, because I'm not sure if it is going to be a "test run" of the plan or if it will be fully implemented in April.

Hi ya:) I am a DVC member and we just used DVC points for us for our wedding and for many in our party--we rented them from a most wonderful member that I hadn't met before the wedding! You can't add a meal package as of right now...also, DFTW can't credit you points for your room. We stayed at the Boardwalk and Beach Club and it was lovely...if your parents can swing the points, get a 1-bedroom--it'll be so helpful with getting ready plus you get a jacuzzi tub then! OKW is very nice and much cheaper as far as points go--are you getting married in Disney? If not, OKW is quite central with downtown and not too far from MGM or Epcot...just Magic Kingdom...and everything is far away from Animal Kingdom! Feel free to PM if you have more questions...

Hi for bookings after 1st April 2006 you can add the meal plan with DVC - think it is about $35 per head and that is for one sit down, one counter service and one snack per day - meals include one soft drink but no alcohol. But, if you have an annual pass you can also get a disney dining experience card which would give you 20% off most sit down meals including alcohol. We will be getting the meal plan and using disney dining experience for 20% off wine with our meals.

Where are you using the points to stay at? I would highly recommend saratoga springs - especially for a honeymoon as the spa there is lovely and it is v close to downtown disney. WL is also very nice - and the beach club villas are good too, if you like to be close to epcot.
