I've been a member for almost a year now, and plan on using all of our points each year, but I'm sure there may be a need to transfer points to or from my account in the future.

My question is: What is the history of DVC point rental? I know that it floats right around $10.00/point right now, but what was it 2, 5, 10 years ago. Do they typically follow the increases in annual dues, follow increases in rack rates, comparable hotels, supply and demand, or can anyone tell why?

It kind of looks like there are some that act as point brokers. Buying large memberships selling all of the points each year for profit. Seems like a lot of work to me, but to each his own. Are these people driving the market?

Just courius, Thanks.

What's driving the market is the people that wait until the last minute to rent out their points, or just have so many that they don't know what to do with them, and accept amounts lower than $10 per point. Many owners have been successful getting $12+ per point or renting at a total dollar amount vs. a price per point. No matter what the reason, there's always going to be people that answer rental ads looking for a bargain and make an offer lower than the asking price. It's up to the owners to reject those offers to maintain a threshold starting at more than $10 per point.
