I'm sorry if this question has been posted millions of times, but I am unclear...
Last time we were at DW was 2 summers ago and the DDP was just starting, I know the rules have changed now...

Let's say we stay 2 nights and get the dining plan for 3 adults (dd is 10 so considered an adult by Disney standards...go figure) Do they calculate it as a straight 6 TS, 6 CS and 6 snacks pooled together, or do they separate the credits by person?

Could we use only 2TS credits per meal for DH and myself and pay for DD, in order to save the extra TS credit for one of us at a later meal, if she wants something less expensive?

I know you guys will be able to clarify this for me. Thanks so much!

Usually it's credits per person. If you want to save credits, I would pay for an entire meal out of pocket for all 3 of you. Disney would prefer everyone be on the same plan at the same table.

A good rule of thumb is if you have to start finagle-ing like this then maybe the DDP is not for you. You defintiely want to at least break even. If you don't think your DD will eat her "money's worth" maybe the DDP is not right for you.

Enjoy your trip!

Your credits will all be put together, so yesyou could pay OOP for your DD, but it is based on the number of nights not the number of days.

Can you split meals to save meal credits?

counter service meals/snacks are NO issue.

TS meals seem to vary. Obviously you cannot split buffets. You can certainly share all that you order. Whether 2 people can share one TS (which Mom & I could SO do...appetizer, entree & dessert split is PLENTY for us), is still questionable. Folks have spoken on these boards of doing it. The official DDP brochure for DDP says no. Some CMs say no...some say yes....SOOOOOO....
TS is questionable.

You will have 6TS 6CS and 6SC for your room. They are only separated if you have children credits, and apparently only for CS at this time.

You can use these ANY way you see fit. If you want to use 2TSpp for 2 of you, and OOP for your child, that hasn't appeared to be a problem.

My question relates to my 10yo daughter, who would never be able to eat an entire meal with the DDP (entree, meal and dessert). If I could split a meal with her it would be fine, but otherwise, it may not be worth our while to do the plan...although we loved it last time we went and dd could order off the kids menu.

Thanks for the info.

We have always done this. but peoples opinions vary. You end up using all your credits in the end anyway.

We have done this fairly easily in the past, espescially at the resort CS Restaurants. We would stop in for a lite lunch, and frequently were only charged for 1 adult & 1 child CS credits even though there were 2 adults eating. We got a kids combo for DS and I got a salad & a brownie, DH got a sandwich. We didn't even realize it when we ordered, but noticed on the reciept. I guess when you look at what we ordered, it constitutes 1 CS meal. Sounds like you may not be able to do that now, but really probably depends on the CM at the cash register. I wonder if they have a $$$ amount cutoff, too.

Got back last night. DH and I split at Sci Fi and Primetime on our day at MGM. Two apps, 2 entrees and 2 desserts were just too much for 2 meals in one day PLUS a snack and CS for Breakfast. The waiter didn't say anything. we did leave a little extra tip for him.
