Where is the competition held, HS or World of Sports? Will they have a lot of time to hang out in the parks? What dates are they most likely to arrive and leave DW (not just comp. days.)?

They will add to the number in the park on non competition days (which are the weekend. Some squads & families will be there the week before and the week after attaching vacations. Which would've this week and next week. You will probably notice their presence more at resorts than parks as during competition they practice at resorts some and tend to flood food courts as squads. It'll be fine- just bring your cheeriness with you and maybe a pair of ear plugs if you are a light sleeper ;)

Which competition? The Cheer and Dance Worlds (International competition) are the last weekend in April. The cheer side is held at the WWoS; however, I believe the dance side is held at HS. I only follow the cheer side. The Cheerleading Summit is the first weekend of May and will be at the WWoS. There are various competitions throughout the year and each brings a different type of crowd. Pop Warner is in December is a football and cheer city league throughout the U.S. and is mostly younger kids whereas to compete at Worlds the minimum age is 12 and goes all the way to adult international competitors. The packages vary depending on the competition. I think Worlds has a a minimum of 2-day, max of 5-day ticket package; however, nothing stopping them from staying longer on their own.

Also, most cheer competition just pulls in family and close friends as spectators. Worlds (and now the Summit) brings in a large number of "fan" spectators to the venue to watch their favorite cheer teams. The venue is oversold and not a empty seat in the house. It's pretty awesome and the athletes are awesome as well. We go as spectators as my daughter is only 10 and not old enough to compete at Worlds. There is also a AAU Cheer competition ~ that is at the WWoS.

This week is a Dance comp and that is WWoS.

You can check the schedule over there.

My GodDaughter has been competing in the Dance Worlds side and its at Epcot. Has been for the couple years she's been competing. This year its last weekend in April and I know her team goes down Wednesday and most add days after competition. So usually Wed-Wed they are down there.

We are @ WDW 2/6-2/12. Are the cheer groups that will be there during our trip the kind that chant everywhere they go? I don't mind longer lines because of events, tp hey pay to be there same as us. I do find groups that feel it necessary to draw attention to themselves by chanting loudly while walking around or waiting in line annoying. What if we all did tgHat?

Which competition?
Good question. There is a more or less never-ending stream of them!

I see them every year, and I have to say that for the most part, they are perfectly fine theme park guests. They would only be troublesome to someone highly sensitive to exuberance.

Then again, I also find the south american groups charming most of the time, so I might not be the best judge of how unpleasant you will find the cheer groups.

we have been there during cheer competitions, and here's what we saw about cheer teams affecting lines in parks: they didn't. The most we ever saw get in line at one ride at one time was maybe 10 kids. We did not hear any cheering inside the parks from cheer groups, though someone with a toddler in a stroller told us they were staying at a resort that had a lot of competitors and she said the kids were outside practicing at all hours (to the point they called the front desk to complain when practice was going on well after 10 PM next to a building...said it was so loud they woke up the baby.) But as far as big groups of kids getting in line at the parks, we didn't see it (or hear it) They didn't seem to be traveling the park in huge groups. There was far less affect on stand-by lines than the South American tour groups that have 150-200 kids all get in line at once.

In fact, we only saw a big group of cheer kids one time, and it was one of the funniest sight we ever saw. There was a big group of teen-aged girls all wearing the team warm-up suits, each with matching back-pack, all made-up and hair perfect...using the back-packs for pillows, and draped over ever horizontal surface in Fantasyland, SOUND ASLEEP at the Magic Kingdom. The happiest place on earth, and they're sleeping through it, lol. I chatted with one of the moms and she said they had been up at 4 AM to get on the buses from their resort to WWOS for a very early competition...then they had this 10 AM-4 PM break to either go back to the hotel & sleep, stay and watch other competitions, or go to the park. All the girls really, really wanted to go to the park. She said they had gone on one ride, and then crashed. There must have been 50 of them sound asleep right in the midst of all the crowds & noise of the park. The mom said it was the most expensive nap her daughter ever took, lol. :faint:

In addition to the ones that Disney "hosts", there are a TON of local dance and cheer competitions too. The school where I work usually lets the dance team go every three years to a destination outside Texas. Our girls usually get two days to "play" but sometimes three.
