??about "carry on" items for Continental

Does anyone know if we could take a child's booster seat as a carry on item?
We are renting a car for a few days and I would much rather use our own booster than a rented one. I couldn't find my answer on Continentals web site.

Could put it in a Duffel bag or other piece of luggage in which it fits and which doesn't exceed Continental's carry-on dimensions, but based on this https://www.continental.com/web/en-...x?camp=virtual_expert#CarseatasCheckedBaggage information it's not otherwise considered free.

As long as you can fit it in the overhead, it can count as your carry-on. Some boosters may not fit.

That's what I thought but wasn't sure. It's a basic booster not a high back so it shouldn't be a problem. DH said it will fit in his backpack so I think we will be fine.

"The maximum combined linear measurement (L + W + H) of the carry-on bag is 45 inches (115 cm) up to 14 in x 9 in x 22 in."

Some backless booster seats can get in under the combined linear measurement maximum. For example, the Graco Backless TurboBooster Car Seat is 15.5 x 8.6 x 16.2 inches. Even then, it's technically too large in one dimension, but barely. I haven't flown Continental in many years, but I fly frequently on American where passengers routinely bring carry-ons that exceed the official dimensions without being challenged.

If the booster seat has a back, it will undoubtedly be much larger than what's allowed.

We fly Continental all the time and do bring our seats in addition to our Carryons .... that means that each of our younger kids would have a back pack and a booster seat with them. On occasion we have been asked to gate check them, but that is rare.
