? about cancelling SW visa card and keeping rr points

We are going to cancel DH's SW visa card b/c the annual fee is due and since I have a new SW visa card with 50,000 rapid rewards we will just use mine. DH has almost 6000 pts. on his rapid rewards. Will he be able to keep them or should we get a gift card with the points and use them up before we cancel?

He will keep all his points as they are posted in his SW rapid rewards account and not a credit card related account

Thanks. That's what I thought but I was worried b/c he got some of the points through visa bonus pts.
