I have a few questions for those of you that have been to Cali Grill? When placing the ADR can I request a table by the window? Can ALL the tables in the restaurant see the fireworks? Are there any other romantic restaurants that my hubby and I can go to that are better in your opinion?

Cali Grill is our favorite place @ WDW. We vowed to end each trip with dinner there. It's simply amazing!! The pork tenderloin with goat cheese polenta is TDF, and the sushi is amazing too! You can't request a table by the window when making an ADR (so I was told by the CM), but you can when checking in. They will tell you that it may add additional wait time - and it's your choice to wait or take the first table that's ready for your party size. When your buzzer goes off you can ask where your table is located, if it's too far from a window you can just wait. You can sit at the bar and have a drink, or just relax. We always do that. Our first trip we waited for a window table, this past trip we took the first table that was ready and still had an amazing castle view. Time it with Wishes and go out on the balcony for a wonderful, romantic view!!!

Another really romantic place that DH and I love is Narcoossee's - it's delish, on the water, and has killer views of Cinderella's Castle too! You can time it with the electric water pageant which is really cool too!!

While a great deal of tables are near the windows- and if u note that you have a special occasion you'll have a greater chance of getting seated there- I have been in a room where the fireworks were not visible. But then all u do is be sure to time it so that you'll be able to leave your table when fireworks start and u can go to the lounge or to the viewing area outside when Wishes begins.

While it DEF is better if u get seated by the windows, it is still very nice even if you can't.
I've been here 3 times- 2 of the 3 we got window seats.

And I LOVE it there so I'd def recommend it :-)

We have eaten here maybe 10 times and have had a window table twice. We have never asked to wait for a window table.

I have the same question. We've never been there and I'm wondering if it matters where you sit if you're going out to the balcony anyway. And how does that part work? Is there an announcement a few minutes before the show starts?

Your server will let you know when it is time to go outside for the fireworks. They also typically know how to space orders so they don't come out when you are outside if you have a table that can't see the fireworks.

I think CG is a great experience and I love the food, but I think Jiko and Flying fish are more romantic. California Grill is quite loud and not very intimate. Jiko was probably the most romantic signature I've been to so far.

Plus you will see a herd of people just getting up and going out to the deck about 15 minutes or so before the show begins!! And don't count on getting a seat at the bar anywhere near fireworks time. It's usually SRO.
California Grill is a nice restaurant and we always have our "first night" meal there. But as Pakey suggests, it's crowded and loud and from that aspect, not terribly romantic.
We find Flying Fish pretty loud as well, mostly due to the open kitchen with bar seating and chefs counter seating available. Citricos has an open kitchen, but seems more quiet than FF. Jiko is also a good alternate choice.
BUt unless something jumps out at you to turn you away from CG, I'd just make the reservation there.
