So I used 100 2011 points and borrowed 62 points from 2012 to book 3 nights in a 2br LV at BLT next May, but am waitlisted for a Standard View. If the wait list comes through, where do the extra points go? Back into 2012? In 2011 (and if so, are they bankable)?

It has occurred to me that I have never borrowed points that I didn't end up using before...

The points will be returned to the UY that the reservation is in. If the waitlist is matched, they should use the borrowed points first on the new reservation.

So if I have a March UY, and the points don't get used for this reservation, I'd need to use them before March 2012...

If they can't be banked, yes. They should use the borrowed points first and the remaining should be bankable if you are within your banking window.

But the banking deadline would be for the year the changed reservation was in, right?

Right. Essentially, they're all 2011 points now, but the borrowed ones can't be banked, but the regular 2011 points can. So when this sort of thing happens, you actually want them to keep the borrowed points in the reservation, and release current 2011 points, so that you have more flexibility (can bank those).

Not sure exactly what you mean, but you would still be able to bank any extra 2011 points that would be freed up if the wait list came through.

If your wait list comes through, make sure they use all of the borrowed 2012 UY points and finish up with 2011 UY points.

This way, the 2011 UY points can be banked into your 2012 UY. Since you are traveling early in your 2011 UY, you will have no problem banking those 2011 UY points.

the thing to remember is: borrowed points can not be banked.

So if you change your reservation and end up needing fewer points, as stated, they should use the ones that were borrowed first and put your others back into your account.

Those returned to your account would have the same rules for banking as always, must bank 4 months prior to your Use Year.
