I've been reading the threads on the vow renewals. It sounds like something we would be interested in doing on our cruise Oct.' 04 for our 15th anniversary. For those who have done this, how far out did you book it and how? Do they use specific vows or can you use your own? What things does the planner do as well as the concierge? Also , our cruise is booked with Dreams, are they the ones who would arrange it?Any info is appreciated.

I haven't done the vow renewal but I can tell you it is actually booked through Disney's Fairytale Weddings area and it is something you would book directly. The pricing is not cheap, that much I know. You can call 407-828-3400 for pricing and information. :)

BUMP!!

I'd love to hear some comments on this...our 20th is coming up in '05' and I'd like to surprise DW with something like this.

I think I'm going to surprise my DH with this on our January cruise - since we are going alone on vacation (for the first time in decades)! I think the surprise would definitely be worth it!

I'd love to hear more about this! We'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary next year and this would be a great way to celebrate!

:earsboy: :sunny: :earsgirl:

Celebrating our 29th on the cruise next May. I feel silly having all that done for just the two of us. Our first wedding wasn't what we wanted due to family fueds so it might be nice to have a quiet relaxing ceremony. Besides if anyone opened their mouth at this, we could just throw them overboard instead of trying to calm everyone down. ;) Too bad we aren't all on the same cruise!:Pinkbounc

Ahhh, the infamous threat of "fishbait"! Gotta love a person who could think of that!!!We had a civil ceremony, then a quasi religious one, then a religious one and now after all this time, I think we need a "let's look over that past few d ecades and just review and renew our commitments!"
Yes, it would be nice to have one large wedding vow renewal party ------

I'm not sure the fish would want them. : ) I am very excited and hope that I can get through the next year without booking a cruise sooner. Oh that would be so naughty! A girl's cruise maybe because the hubby can't get that many vacations. I probably would tear up at a vow renewal also so that's another reason I am debating it! I don't want to be sad. Don't worry, be happy is going to be our motto on this cruise. I may have an anxiety attack getting on the ship but after that I'll make sure I take "cruise medicine" and enjoy!

Konk Kooler or Pina Colada?!

Um, um, um, can you get any mixed drink? The drink I want doesn't exaclty have a Disney name. It's more of an "R" rated drink!! My college aged daughters introduced me to it. Now there's a big surprise! Anyway, any of them will have to work. I wonder how many I will have to take and how often!! And if they don't work I guess I'll have to get a different prescription!!

Think they would give a group discount if we tried to book a vow renewal cruise? Maybe its worth asking about.

It would be a hoot!! All people from DisBoards, all renewing their vows. Oh is it only wedding vows!! ; ) I was going to renew my be a kid again vow, eat all the chocolate I want vow, I don't care that I don't look like a model vow, I want a sports car sometime in my adult life vow, stuff like that! Seriously, it would be very interesting!

Eggleboo - I think you'd be a blast to party with!!!! I definitely like your attitude!!!!!

: ) I'm actually quiet. I wouldn't want to embarrass anyone by letting loose!! Life changing situation three years ago makes me more aware of things now so I tend to think more then talk these days. Of course the DH would debate that I'm sure!! I just save it up for my fun times!! THis cruise will definitely be that for me as long as I have a great prescription and a good bartender! Did I say bartender, I meant doctor!! ;)

Not that I want to put a pin in the party bubble, but to answer at least one question in the original post... ;) The vow renewal costs around $1,100. This includes officiant (I hope the captain), a cake, and a certificate. Perhaps more, but I can't remember right now. Pretty pricey just to say "I do again"!! :p

a really big party at home for our silver.

I figure I've still got two years to save up for this one. A second I do on the ship sounds like just the ticket.

I'd have to remarry first before worrying about renewing, and I have as yet to meet someone distasteful enough to even consider inflicting myself on for the balance of a lifetime... That said, there is an alternative to spending so much money on a vow renewal.

Plan on having a private ceremony on the deck 7 secret verandah. Invite Disers in advance. If you have an older child(ren) who will be accompanying you on the cruise, allow them to officiate. If not, ask a CM you are fond of. Or, ask a Diser. Heck, I think it would be an honor to officiate a couple's vow renewal ceremony aboard ship.

Flowers? No problem. Contact Shirley at The Perfect Gift and tell her your plans. I am sure the dear woman can create a most superb wedding arrangement.

Food? Even less of a problem. Order room service for the deck 7 secret verandah in advance. A few cheese platters, fresh fruit, sandwiches, uncooked white rice (well, maybe you should bring your own) and whatever else is available.

Drinks? See "Shirley at The Perfect Gift" above.

Bring your own champagne for a toast and your done. Oh, wait. Music! See if you can "rent" a "dueling" pianist. If not, you can always tape the appropriate music in advance and simply bring along a tape player...

I think we'll just stand on the beach at Castaway, look at all the beautiful scenery nature has to give us and say I love you. Then we'll take the $1,100 and put it towards another cruise if we like our first one.

It's probably a very nice thing to do if you have family with you. Being just the two of us, we'll keep it low keyed!

You don't give yourself enough credit! You seem to be a hopeless romantic at heart! And I don't know too many ladies who would disregard that! :D You've given this vow renewal some thought, particularly since a renewal doesn't appear to be in your near future!

You have shared a great idea, and I just might give that some thought. Thanks!! :p
