Trying to read and understand everything I can so I have no surprises when I purchase.

Can someone explain how MF are billed? I understand the annual amount per point is different for each resort. $.$$MF X # of points = annual MF. Are they billed annually or can they be paid monthly ( Can they be drafted from a bank account or charged to CC--ie my Disney Visa)?

Are MF billed by UY or calendar year? If for example, I were to purchase resale that indicated no MF till 2012, would my MF begin the month of my UY 2012 or the beginning of 2012 in January?

Anything else you can tell me about MF I may not have asked will be appreciated.

MF are billed by calendar year. You receive a bill in January for the year that is due by mid-Feb. Rather than paying annually you can sign up for paying monthly by automatic withdrawal from your checking account.

We pay annually and put it on our Disney Visa credit card - not sure if you can do this monthly (I think it needs to be withdrawn from a checking acct, etc.).

We have a Disney Visa card - I know it's not the best out there for rewards but I charge almost everything I can and use my rewards towards my maintenance fees.

Thanks!! Billed in January--- seems odd if the UY is late in the year like Oct or Dec (that I hope to have).

It is billed based on the calendar year and not on the UY. I think this helps to keep down on admin costs, etc. If you purchase late in the year, your MF's are prorated for the year....except for resales, which you have to find out if they have been paid or not.

If you choose to have the MF paid on a monthly basis, you must allow Disney to take the $$ from a domestic checking account. They will not bill to a credit card on a monthly basis.

As noted, it's billed on a Calendar year basis, not Use Year Basis. That means that for say a Dec UY, any dues pain in Jan of this year are really for 11 months of the 2010 UY and 1 month of the 2011 UY. For this reason, MOST people who buy resale overpay on main fees but need to look at their overall package for the actually cost and value.

You can use disney gift cards too to pay your MFs. You just have to call MS to pay. I buy the gift cards at our local grocery store to get their "fuel perks" and put it on our disney visa to also get the rewards dollars. So if you have any local stores that sell the gift cards its a good way to get double the rewards.
