Somwhere on one of these boards, I got the idea to have the characters autograph 4x 6 cards with little pictures of the characters on them. We did this on our last trip, and it turned out so cute! In my sons book he now has his autographed index card right next to his picture with that character.
The only problem was when we were in the parks and would see a character unexpectedly, I would have a hard time finding the right card with the right character on it fast enough. I would be trying to fumble through my pile before we got up to the character.

So, does anyone have any tips on keeping these organized so you can find the right one quickly?

I did take blank ones, so if all else failed they just signed a blank one, but it was soo cute when we had the cards with the pics. The characters really enjoyed that too!
Thanks
Maci

Sorry to reply to your question with questions of my own, but it sounds like a wonderful idea...

Did the characters have any problems signing the cards? Did you have something for them to use as a hard surface to write on?

I purchased small clip boards (5"X8") at Office Depot for about a buck each. My nephews used the cards and the clipboard on our trip in Jun, it worked very well.

You might check at an office supply place - I don't know if they have them in the right size, but try to find a small A-Z index file (sort of like a check file) and put the cards in the file under the letter for the name of the character - that way if you see Tarzan his card would be under the T's. Of course, you wouldn't want anything big and bulky to cart around the parks, but you might be lucky and find what you need

Great idea....my two kids are making "books" of their trips. We have already done the covers prior to going (Sarah's 2003 Walt Disney World Adventure). They are really excited about it. Putting the autographs in is a wonderful touch.

Any chance they could sign blank cards then put the pictures on when you get home? Not sure if the pictures are computer generated or stickers, but if it would work it might be a fun project when you return to put the pictures on then. It would be fun to add the pictures while you talk about the wonderful memories.

Best wishes and have a great trip.

Maci--

I'm in the process of making two books right now with 4x6 cards for our upcoming trip :) They're just basic photo album books from the Dollar Tree for a buck each--one even's got Pooh on it :) :) :)

One book's got all the Good Guys and the other has the Villains--maybe that would help with organizing? We're going during OCT and I hope to snag as mny Vil's as possible.

When we see a character we'll flip through the book and find the one with their pic on it and just take it out to be signed.

I was wondering how I'm going to get them to sign the card itself though--but y'all just gave me the idea of placing a clip on the book so I can just use that--thanks!!!! I've read that the characters themselves love to look through the books too; if I just give them the clipboard I can't show off my work!

Knowing my luck after all the book making my little kids will show NO INTEREST in characters, but you know Mommy at least will! :)

Maybe y'all can help me with this one though--I'm trying DESPERATELY to find the following pictures (clip art) to put in:

Big Bad Wolf
Brer Bear
Country Bears
Green Army Men
Kermit
Miss Piggy

Anybody got any ideas where I can find them on the net???

Good idea for the index file! I will go check it out!!
To answer the question, none of them had a problem signing them, we took a small little book to use to press down on. You get such great interaction with the characters when they see a card with there picture on it! I swear Tigger must have spent 5 minutes with my son! Buzz made a big deal about his picture too!

Also, someone asked if they were computer generated, yes we printed them out on the computer, but the stickers are a good idea too!

Thanks for the tips!!

Here's what I did. I went to my local crafts store (Michaels), down the scrapbooking aisle and picked up a scrapbook that was slightly larger than 4x6. This scrapbook was spiral bound, so no worrying about lost pages. Then I decorated each page (one character per page) and left a space for them to sign. I put the characters in alphabetical order. I also left a few blank pages for those hard to find characters. I plan on placing pictures of my sons getting their autographs on the left page, and the autograph will be on the right page. Get the idea? The book was about $7, but I used a 50% off coupon, so it came out to much less.
