We will be staying at AKL for the first time in May and would like to order room service for breakfast. Does anyone know where they prepare the food that is ordered through room service? Is it through one of the restaurants? I've heard that the restaurants at AKL use a lot of nuts in their food and my daughter is highly allergic to nuts, so I'd need to make sure that her food was prepared safely. Maybe I should call the hotel directly or talk to the front desk when we arrive? Any information or advice is appreciated. We're really looking forward to staying at AKL. We've heard so many wonderful things about it. Thanks!

I'm not sure where the room service food comes from. In your situation I would definately contact a manager or chef and wouldn't rely on whoever answers the phone when you call down.

My DH and I are big fans of AKL, we really enjoyed having our breakfast on the balacony and watching the animals. My DH has a severe peanut allergy and we were concerned about some of the exotic African specialities. It wasn't a problem the cooking staff was wonderful they told us what things to avoid and we could even talk to the person who prepared the item just to be sure, plus if you eat in the Boma all items are marked that contain nuts. As far as breakfast items are concerned the only thing my DH could not eat were the pasteries, and some of the hot cereals.

Here is a list of items on the room service breakfast menu, all you do is select the items you want and hang the card on the door and your breakfast will be delivered at the time indicated.

Please note there is a $3.00 delivery charge, taxes and 18% gratuity added to all orders.

Sunrise Continental Breakfast $11.99
(pastries, tropical fruit selection, coffee and OJ)
Steak and Eggs $18.99
Safari Breakfast $15.99 (try the grilled pork loin it is wonderful)
Hot Cakes $9.99
Banana Stuffed French Toast $9.99 (not to be missed)
Belgian Waffle $9.99
Tropical Fruit Plate $11.99 (Citrus Yogurt is great)
Hot or Cold Cereals $3.29 (lots of choices)
Side dishes range from $1.99 to $5.99
Beverages coffee, decaf, hot chocolate (44oz pots) $4.99
Assorted Juices $2.99

heffalump9, thanks for the great info! We are looking forward to watching the animals from our balcony and enjoying a nice breakfast in the room. After reading your post, it seems that this will be possible for us. When you ordered room service, did you talk to anyone other than the person taking your order? I was wondering if the entire staff would be aware of the food allergy issue or if we should ask to speak to whomever is in charge.

Also, thanks so much for taking the time to list the room service breakfast menu for me. It sounds wonderful. My daughter is only 4, but she can't wait to try room service!

I am glad my info. was helpful, when we arrived for our first visit at the AKL (2002) we spoke with the manager at the Boma one evening and he had one of the chefs answer all our questions about the use of nuts and cooking oils. Plus anywhere we have eaten on the Disney property we always checked to see how food is prepared and I have always found the staff to be helpful and concerned they have even offered to pre plate meals so there is no cross contamination from serving utinsels.
