I am considering switching our rooms at AKL to deluxe conceirge rooms. We are a family of six, so I need to know if any of these rooms are connecting. Also, I am worried about getting a pool view room if I change. Savannah view is a must for our family.

Thanks for your help!

Why do you want to change from two savanna view rooms to two Concierge savanna view rooms?

The original poster may want to stay concierge level, and the only way to do that with a party of six is with two rooms. If you stay on the regular savannah level - you don't get access to the itinerary planners, the lounge, the snacks, or the special Safari perks. I certainly can understand why this poster would want to switch!

We did exactly this in November of 2003. We wanted to show my in-laws how wonderful the concierge level of AKL is! We did the Sunrise Safari with them. We were placed in two CONNECTING deluxe savannah view rooms on the Zebra trail, overlooking the Arusha savannah - it was a great location! We had zebra, cattle, antelope and giraffe outside our rooms all the time. We were midway down the first corridor on the 5th floor - halfway between the lounge(Main) elevator bank and the pool/Mara elevator bank.

Just an FYI - the connecting rooms have 1 room with the Queen/Bunk Beds/Daybed configuration, and 1 room with the 2 Queens configuration. The rooms were approximately the same size. This worked perfectly for us, as I have a family of five - and my in-laws were able to have their own room - but still feel like we were in the same suite! I also love the oversized balconies on the fifth floor.

There are very few pool view concierge rooms - just a few on the 6th floor with the lounge. If you request to be on the 6th floor (closer to the lounge), you would probably get one of the pool view rooms. I don't know if any of these are connecting, however.

Good luck with your trip!

Hi ! So happy to hear you are staying at AKL. You will love it! We are returning this Sept/Oct. and can't wait. :lovestruc

Unless you are requesting a smoking room there is really not much of a chance you would be given a pool view if you change over to concierge. The concierge floor is the 6th. However, many people prefer to be on the 5th floor, as you have a better view of the savanah. The 6th floor rooms have a roof configuration that comes down further and makes the view more restricted.

I would make this change as soon as possible. If you do go with conciege. After you make your reservations, contact the IPO and make sure there is a note for adjoining rooms. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

6 of the 55 concierge rooms are 6th floor pool view and I have read that they are smoking rooms.

9 rooms are 6th floor sunset safari rooms.

The remaining 40 rooms are on the 5th floor. I'm not sure of their location on the 5th floor.
