We have already done 4 cruises with Disney and will be doing the 10 day Christmas cruise this year. We LOVE Disney. Next Spring would like to go on a 4 day Nassau cruise around the end of May. Don't want to spend a lot of money--anyone have a suggestion on another cruise line that's cheaper than Disney but won't leave me so disappointed that we didn't go Disney? How is RCCL? Will appreciate any input! :D

DH and I did a 4-night Carnival Fantasy cruise just before our second Disney Magic cruise (it was my Christmas gift to DH) and we had a terrific time! For only $299 per person we thought it was a great deal. We enjoyed the ship, the food, the great entertainment, the pool, just everything. I wouldn't hesitate to go on the Fantasy again, or one of her "sister" ships.

I have also been on the MS fantasy, although never on Disney - so I can't compare.

The Fantasy is older and may not have as many actives as Disney or other ships may have. However with the great fare - they money that you save can be applied to a future cruise!

I've sailed RCL Sovereign of the Seas 3 different times. It was my first cruise and it hooked me for life. It is considerably cheaper than Disney. Took a May cruise in 2003 and got an inside GTY room for 199.

The ship is older, the rooms are considerably smaller, but for the price I would recommend it.

I also can not say enough good things about their private island Coco Cay. Very beautiful.

I think you will find that IF you are open-minded about other major lines, you will not be dissapointed. Sure, they're not Disney, but for 90% of your cruise it would'nt matter what line you were on (sleeping in a bed, lounging by a pool, eating in a restaurant, off the ship on an excursion, etc.).

We cruised other lines before Disney, did two 7-night Disney cruises, and are now looking elsewhere because of prices (again). If the Florida Residents rate is available, the price for us (family of 5) is comparable to RCCL and Princess, and we'll always sail Disney again. Without that discount, paying 50% more for Disney is too hard to justify.

My most serious problem sailing other lines is smoking, and if I get a stale, smoked-in cabin I'm miserable (and sick from it). We're looking only at newer ships on RCCL, Princess, and Carnival for that reason (reduces the odds of a contaminated cabin).

I understand that RCCL's Sovereign of the Seas is undergoing dry dock/refurbishment in the fall (or sometime "soon"). It is supposed to get balconies on some cabins etc. I am sure it will be a lot nicer after the facelift.
