My DH and I are looking to buy a BWV resale and was wondering at this point in the year how hard is it to get a studio or 1 bedroom the first week of December?

We were at Disney in May and went through SSR ... I wanted to buy and DH of course said we needed to think about it. Now we have decided to go the resale route and I am having to justify the purchase. I guess being away from the magic takes the impluse-purchase syndrome right out of me.

Thanks for the feedback.

It will be difficult at this point. The first week of December is very popular for DVC members because of the low point cost of December and it is when the annual condominium meetings take place at the resorts. If you have any chance at all it will be for a 1BR, probably with a wait list.

Good luck. We are BWV owners and it is our favorite resort.

I've stayed at BWV that week the past 4 years, it is always soldout. It's a great time to go, the Christmas decorations and shows are wonderful. I don't think the annual meetings make a big difference, I've attended the BWV meeting twice, I don't think there were more than 50 members there. The annual meeting is earlier this year, Dec 1.

With SSR open now, you may have a better chance of getting in. Some people may want to try it out.

We usually go that week every year...

Even booking at 11 months out, its tough to get a Standard View room... You may have better luck with a Preferred view.

I would agree with DebbieB and Happy Birthday Cat... The main two reasons for the season being so busy are the low point costs, and the Holiday decorations.

Is it just as difficult to get into all DVC properties?

Thanks

Yes that time is all around difficult because of the reasons already stated. But with SSR opening, that may create some space that otherwise wouldn't be available. You never know. Good luck.

I think you will find SOMETHING at a DVC that late, but it might not be a studio. OKW will be the best bet because of size, and SSR might be a possibility if they have added more buildings.

Just an FYI, I booked a studio at BWV about a month ago for 12/2-12/6. Booked on the first try...no problem. Good luck:wave2:

It will only be a problem this year (because you are booking so late. The 7 month window for that time has been open since the first week in May).

You will not have a problem booking next year assuming you do it at the 11 month window. If you want a standard view or a guaranteed Boardwalk view, call day by day.

Good luck with the resale process!

Best wishes -

I booked a 1 bedroom preferred view about a month ago for the same time frame. We planned on splurging for our anniversary so I'm not sure if anything 'cheaper' was available.

We booked a studio at VB for the Wed-Fri of thanksgiving at the same time.

It would be impossible to know if their is availability till you actually call because I tried to get a studio there several months ago and they were all gone so took a two bedroom which was all they had. Someone esle just called and got one so it really depends what opens up but I wouldn;t count on getting anything there as it is tight then. You could get lucky and I'm sure other DVC places will have availability.

We have a reservation for the first week of December at SSR. Just on a whim we decided to call MS to see if there was openings elsewhere. We tried for a one bedroom at BWV, BCV, and VWL and there was none availabe. We didnt try OKW though. Good luck!

I have been on a waitlist for about 3 weeks for a studio at BWV. I told MS that standard or preferred view didn't matter. I did request smoking though, so that might lower my chances. I have had a 2BR Boardwalk view booked since the 11 month window opened (non-smoking), and I called to add the studio for my brother who smokes. At that time, there was already a waitlist, but she said someone usually cancels, so I am hopeful. You could get on the waitlist and maybe you will also be lucky. Good Luck!

DVC and WDW owned resorts in general don't reserve rooms as smoking or non-smoking, they are just requests which may or may not be granted. If you have a medical condition which requires non-smoking, be sure to have them note it.
