about 10 hours ago, i mentally checked out.

after first period. or before third. i don't know. my day is blurred. but sometime this morning, my friend che came up to me and out of nowhere said, "shelby, javier is going to iraq." then i had one of those stupid, "what?" moments. and she explained that her brother, my first friend in highschool, is shipping off on wednesday. he graduated last year. he was in rotc all through highschool and was really good at it, but i thought he was going off to college and stuff. we pretty much lost touch, but if we ever ran into each other we'd hug and talk and everything.

jesus christ i don't even know what i'm saying. i know that didn't make any sense. i'm heartbroken and terrified. he's going off to do the job that a bunch of people died doing and now their position needs filling. i'm writing this through the blur of tears.

please just pray for him. i know this post didn't make any sense. he leaves wednesday. i think he gets to iraq on friday.

i've mentally checked out, i'll be back tomorrow i think. maybe i could explain better later if you're confused.
