Hello everyone. We are selling the RV and are now buying into DVC. I have learned a lot for the past 2 months while reading a ton of stuff here and across the web. Our normal vacation party is 4 adults and 2 small children, ages 6 and 8. I have read that sometimes a rollaway bed or an air bed is brought into a room. I know that some studios and most 1 bedroom villas will sleep 5. Will Disney allow us to have 4 adults and the 2 small kids in one of these rooms? Having to go to a 2 bedroom villa seems a bit much for our family. This is the only thing that is bothering me about the whole DVC deal. We have a contract already passed rofr, it is for 120 points at AK. Thank you all for all the great info shared here.

No. "Small" is defined by Disney as "under 3." Neither of your children is under 3.

You will be required to have a 2BR villa if you buy and book DVC with 4 adults and 2 children.

Thank you Aurora for your answer. That kind of sucks. I looked on the regular Disney resort booking site and it showed a 1 bedroom villa at AKL allowing up to 6. I wonder why the DVC villas only allow 5. Our 120 points will not be enough for a 2 bedroom villa or for 2 studios.

Where did you see that? I did some mock bookings to confirm, and even through Disney, 1-bedrooms only accommodate 5 people, plus one infant.

I think that you are confusing AKL (the hotel) and AKV (the DVC units). A 1-bedroom suite in AKL sleeps 6 (2 Q beds and 1 Q sleeper sofa). A 1-bedroom villa in AKV sleeps 5 (1 K bed, 1 Q sleeper sofa and 1 Twin sleeper chair).

And while your 120 points may not be enough for a 2-bedroom every year, it will be enough for one every couple of years when you bank/borrow points. Your kids will not be small forever and when they become teenagers, you'll be glad for that extra space.

Roll aways are also usually a no go with DVC.

With 4 adults and 2 children you can get 2 studios. That is usually equal to the point requirements for a 1BR.

You will never get a rollaway or cot with DVC. They do not offer them at all.
