I got the call last night....I have to go in Aug 5 for more tests. :guilty:

Good luck. Sending good thoughts out for you.

Karen

Honest to God my first thought was...after reading all of SeaSpray's posts all day and thinking maybe our Sept '06 trip we'll stay at the Poly...I thought "Better move that trip up, just in case."

You can see where my mind is always at.

I've had abnormal paps for 12 years.I just had another abnormal one.I'll have a culposcopy next year..I've had a bunch of procedures done over the years..None were painful or anything.. Abnormal paps are usually very simple to take care of :grouphug:

Abnormal paps are not uncommon. I had a friend who had one, upon further testing, everything was OK. They just kept a closer eye on her.

Try not to worry too much.

My pixie dust to you.... I hope everything turns out OK.

On my very first pap ever...the lab came back and said I had abnormal cells and scared the *&^^ out of me with cancer pamphlets and such...

I had a biopsy done a few weeks later. (boy was that fun.)

Results from biopsy were normal.....

No scares since then....

Don't you worry....I had one too earlier last year. Went in for more tests and everything was fine.

Apparently, there are certain kinds of cells that they can tell aren't quite normal, but aren't dangerous either. I asked ahead of time (because I was so worried) and then said not to worry, they just needed me for more tests, but these weren't cells to cause real alarm.

Can you do that with your doctor's office?

I used to work in an OB/GYN office, and abnormal paps were very common. Usually they were treated with Cryo and just re-tested in 3-6 months. Wishing you the best :grouphug:

I've had abnormal Pap tests for about 6 years now and as everyone else says they are quite common.I know I worried myself sick but listen to what your Dr. tells you and try and keep calm. :)

Good luck! :wave2:

I had my first abnormal pap in my mid 20's. I had to go back every 3 months for paps for 1 year.

After that I never let a pap slide, luckily.

Call your Dr's. office and ask for more information. That should help ease your mind for the next couple of weeks.

I've had them off and on for 7 years.

there is a higher risk of false "abnormals" than false "goods". Keep that in mind.

I have had a cone biopsy, a colposcopy, a LEEP procedure, you name it- its been used to biopsy my cervix. After each procedure all of the results are fine, and I'll go 6 months with a normal pap, then back to an abnormal. I only get the thin prep pap now, as that is proven to be more reliable (and more $$ if your a self pay like me)

I am back to the every 6 months right now, and 1 more normal and I go back to the 1 year mark !!

It's generally NOTHING...........just repeat that. My 1st 2x through this was scarier than scary, but now i just let it roll.

:rose: :flower2: :rose: HUGS to you ... I have had many of those in the past! They aren't that fun, but it seems to be pretty common. Any little thing can cause it to be abnormal. Keep us updated on how you are doing! :)

I had an abnormal pap result in the past. Did the recheck every three months for a year and was fine. They think it was just an infection that cleared up. There are a lot of things that can cause a pap test result to be abnormal.

:grouphug: You'll be in my thoughts.

In the meantime, try not to stress yourself out about it too much (easier said than done, I know!). I have a few friends who had abnormal PAP results that turned out to be nothing.

Take care! :goodvibes
