Ability to go to Fort Wilderness

Hello,
My Great nephew is coming to Disney in two weeks. He loves horses and would love to see the stables at FW.
Can we drive over to see the stables and horses. We were also thinking of renting a canoe there. Are they renting water equipment again?
Any information would be appreciated.

Many of the resorts are not letting people to drive into the resorts unless you are staying there. If you would be allowed to enter with your own vehicle, you would have to park near the check in building and then take an internal bus to the settlement. There you will find the stable that you can visit. Currently guests are only allowed in a small section of the barn toward the front but there are several stalls there with horses to see.

To rent a canoe, you then have to go to the bike barn which is located at the Meadows area which is where the main pool is. You would take an internal bus to the meadows trading post and walk over to the bike barn from there.

If you need to take disney transportation to the fort, you have a few options. You can take the boat from MK which lets you off at the settlement area and a short walk away from the barn. Then use the internal bus to get to the meadows. There is also a bus from the MK that lets off at the bus stop right near the barn. This is the bus stop that you also catch the internal bus.

You can take a bus from the other parks or disney springs to the fort and that will let you off at the outpost which is near the check in building. Then use internal busses to get to the places around the fort.
