We booked our flights today through United. I am so excited - $440 for the two of us! The flight is different than what I am used to though. United takes us from Allentown to Newark via a luxury van (this cost is part of our ticket) and then we fly from Newark to Orlando. Has anyone every used this type of flight before?

No, never heard of such a thing. Sounds like a pain to me; at least it's not such a long drive.

What is a luxury van?

Just found one of these bookings on UA's web site - I like the way they call the bus travel time "flight time" and indicate that you "change planes" at Newark!

Yes I've done this from ABE to Newark before (Continental does this as well in leui of an actaul flight from ABE to EWR). They say luxury van but I've never been on one I'd consider "luxury." It's just a 10 passenger van - nothing luxurious about it! It's been a few years since I've done this so maybe they'ev gotten nicer wheels since then!

It does seem like a pain, but for those of us that live right by ABE, it's well worth it to skip the hassle of driving 80 min. in traffic to EWR, parking, etc.

That's what I figured about the van. "Luxury" just makes it sound good. :)

I am just thrilled with the price. We just added one more night to our stay because of the money we saved with the flights.

I have taken the 'Bus' flight several times from ABE to Newark. It is a very nice smaller bus that has about 20 seats. The seats are just like a regular motorcoach or even Magical Express. Nice and comfy. That is where the luxury comes from. It is not a passenger van. A friend of mine considers it a non-stop since there is only one takeoff and landing.

i just booked this same flight for my trip - it came to 179.60 for my ticket, i am so excited and then i got an awesome rate on a rental car. 165 days and counting

Good to hear! I've always literally had a white passenger van with plastic bench seats. Glad to hear they've upgraded a bit!
