AbD from a non-US country

The current entry and travel restrictions have me wondering: what would happen if I paid in full and wasn’t allowed to enter a country based on where I live, but US residents were.

I’m guessing from my previous AdD trips I’m in a minority here.

That's a good question, and I think ABD is probably the only one that can answer that for you. Obviously, if US residents were not allowed into whatever country, ABD would have to cancel the trip. But if only you wouldn't be able to, they wouldn't need to cancel the whole trip. My HOPE would be that ABD would refund the trip or give you a future trip credit, but I don't think anyone has been in this situation yet to give you a definitive answer, so you'll have to ask ABD.

I know that if you have paid in full for the China trip, and are unable to get a Visa to enter China, that you are out of luck. ABD's policy is you are on your own for that. Hopefully COVID-19 situations would be handled differently.

A quick follow of from AbD thru my travel agent: you are out of luck if you had planned to travel from a country not allowed to enter the destination country. They believe 65 days (when final payment is due) is enough time to make a decision yourself.

Well if it comes to it, I cancel at 66 days out for a refund of my deposit. No harm done. It’s not looking good for anyone entering New Zealand anyways. But good to know for other destinations that have different rules on who’s able to enter.

That's OK if you booked with the current refund policies. My Rhine river cruise this summer was made when I only had 14 day's from booking to cancel with full refund of deposit. If I cancel before the 65 days pay in full, I still lose my deposit

That’s the only reason I booked. Otherwise I’d have to play chicken with them and transfer the money to an AbD I thought likely to be cancelled. It was not a good year for many people. I also lost money by renting DVC points.
Hope your river cruise gets cancelled soon enough!
