ABD Disneyland vs. everything on my own.

I was pricing ABD Disneyland and realized how for only 2 people, it seems to cost way less than doing it on our own, which was surprising to me. For just under $5,000, we would get 3 nights at Grand Californian, 2 meals per day, a VIP tour, 4 day park hoppers and several other tours.

I didn't break out the calculator and look at specific costs, but my rough head math shows it would cost about the same to only stay at the hotel and do the VIP tour without the parkhoppers, food, additional tours and gratuities.

IDK, maybe I am just trying to talk myself into an ABD weekend. I figure if I am way off, someone here can help me figure that out.

I’m going on the Dis organized full length ABD in December and from all the research I’ve done the VIP tour portion at Disneyland resort isn’t focused on riding rides it’s a backstage tour. The short escape combines the Disneyland and DCA backstage tour days into one day.

I have done the ABD Backstage Magic. I cannot recommend it highly enough! You can’t really compare what you’ll do on that trip to a VIP tour though. On a VIP tour you are in complete control, on ABD you are on their itinerary. There will be portions of the day when you are looking at things backstage rather than going on rides. There might be some things that don’t interest you.

ABD was amazing. It’s a real must do for anyone that loves Disneyland. You can get a lot more information on the trip over on the Adventures by Disney forum.
