ABD Dis Board Hollywood solo Traveler Thread

I've started a list of who's going on each Adventure.

Whose name should I add next?

Just causing trouble.....:rotfl2:

As it looks like this information is going to be needed, I'll post it here so everyone can see it.

In a room mate situation, we ask each roommie to submit a request as if they are a solo traveler. In doing this, you will get information that lists the much higher, solo traveler price. There is no need to worry, as I will fix that on the back end and each of you will be responsible for half of the double occupancy rate.

Your credit cards will each be charged for the $300 deposit.

As you will begin sharing immediately, there will only be one reservation for the two roomies. I am only able to list one person as the lead name, so I usually pick the person that submits their request first. I can make sure that both addresses (email and street) are listed, so that you will each get your own paperwork etc.

As you will also be sharing a password, I suggest not using the same number as your off shore account in the Cayman Islands. Pick something less personal that you can share with someone and not feel worried that you have given personal information.

Each roomie can choose their own payment style. In the past, we have had one person make interim payments and one pay the final payment lump sum. This is fine as long as the final payment is made by the final payment date.

Travel insurance is available for $139 per person and either / both of you can purchase it. If you have a pre-existing condition that needs to be covered, you will need to add and pay for your travel insurance with 14 days of booking your Adventure.

The 14 day window is also the time you have to change your mind and get a full refund. After 14 days, your deposit is non-refundable.

If one of the roomies changes their mind or cant travel for whatever reason, the other roomie will be responsible for the solo traveler rate or for finding another room mate.

I think that covers everything, but if you have questions....just let me know.

Kevin (& Mike, Suzette and Nicole) - That seems easy enough, but I do have a question. It seems right now like the four of us plan on going - but the who rooms with who and whether or not one pair will go in April instead of February is still shaking out. I definitely want to go in February. Is it possible to sign up for my Feb slot now and add a roommate later, at the risk of ending up a single? Or does all pairing need to be done immediately as described in your instructions above (so there is one set of login credentials for a room)?

For Nicole, et. al. - Right now it seems (via all the PMs and facebook conversations), that I will room with one of the ladies and the other will be happy to room with Mike - possibly during the April trip. I just want to confirm that this is the case. It seems like 3 out of the 4 of us are more than ready to book. (Or at least I know I'm anxious to secure a coveted February spot :cool1: )

I plan on booking a Feb spot tomorrow morning at the latest, regardless of the status at that time. I don't sleep well suffering from FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) :rotfl:. So I just want to put that out there for everybody as an FYI.

Kevin, I look forward to your answer to my questions, and everyone else I hope we can all settle this very soon! I'm just soo excited!!!

- Lindsay

PS-For the record, I do have to separate myself from the computer for a few hours, but I promise to obsessively check back in as soon as I return. ;)

PPS - I spoke w/ AKL about my cast member-rate reservation in October, and they said since my name is on the record, I could call 5-10 days in advance to request a special room location. Before then, the CM has to make the request (which I loathe to do). Just in case that is of relevance to anyone else in the future, I thought I'd give an update.

Adding a room mate at a later date is no more difficult than doing it at the time of booking, and the same things apply.

The only issue would be if the departure date was close to filling / selling out.

There are spaces available for February and April, so at this time, this is not a danger.

While I'm certainly not trying to put pressure on anyone, I can not promise anything further than "as of now".

Awesome news! Stitchlover and I just spoke on the phone and we've agreed to share a room on the February trip.

I have some questions:

1). What does the Disney trip insurance cover? Would it cover if the other roommate cancels, or would the other still be liable for the difference? Can we also get insurance from a third party that might be less expensive?

2). Where do we request two separate beds? I dont want any trouble from stitchlover's husband. LOL. I won't complain if we get a 2 bedroom suite.

3). If in the highly improbable case that one of the room mates cancels, does their $300 deposit go towards the balance?

That's all for now. See you in february!

ABD travel insurance will not cover a room mate canceling. If a roommate cancels, the remaining room mate will be responsible for the single traveler price or for finding a new roomy.

We recommend people check with www.insure my trip.com for third party insurance. ABD uses Access America.

I will request two beds. This is always the case with a Tommie reservation. It"s actually more difficult to secure a king bed than two doubles.

If a roomie cancels, the deposit is forfeited. It does not transfers to the balance due. This is true no matter whether it"s a rommie situation of a family.

Just in case you somehow missed my post on the Feb Trip thread, I went ahead and booked my single reservation. I still hope to find a roommate (hopefully Nicole!), but either way I will be going!:banana::banana:

Thank goodness for Michael! I didn't even think of that question. My husband would be thrilled when I called home and told him there was only one bed. :scared1: Probably wouldn't see the 22nd anniversary next year.

I would seriously suggest not holding your breath for two bedroom suite.:rotfl2:
But Kevin...why not?!? :rotfl:

Hi all -
I sent Lindsay a PM already to let her know I'm sorry I didn't have an answer yesterday for you all. And I'm so glad that I've not held you up further. YAY that you are officially going on the Feb trip! I'm 99% sure I'm going, but work wasn't able to give me the official ok on Friday. Fingers crossed for Monday and another thanks to Lindsay for waiting on me!

So glad to hear that you might still be able to join us. Can't wait to hear what the office says.

Office-shmoffice. I'm in! :thumbsup2
With the trip close to selling out, I can't risk missing it, so I just booked. :woohoo:
I'm sure work won't have a problem. ;)

Hi,
I'm not sure if I am tracking all the messages but is anyone still looking for a roommate? I am ok with either gender - I'm a single lady Disney fantatic and would LOVE to go on the April trip! Thank you!
