ABD Backstage Magic Trip April 13th - I'm SO There!

I got very excited when you guys announced this trip during the live taping. I have already done an ABD and would love to do another. Doing it with Dis friends just sweetens the pot. There is a very good chance I will be saying count me in. With only 36 open slots they will go fast. If I decide to go, hopefully I will be able to respond quick enough.

Park tickets are included, the only things not included are: airfare, a couple of meals and tipping the guides. Oh yeah, can't forget about all the extra dough you'll need for the exclusive merchandise at Mickey's of Glendale.

Yep, Mickey's of Glendale is the scary thing to me. I'll eat microwave soup in the room, but my ONE chance to go to Mickey's of Glendale??? :scared:

I was just looking at the Grand Californian's website a little bit ago and it is absolutely gorgeous!

The more I read about it, I can't even express how "dream come true" this tour sounds to me. I've read so many books about Walt Disney...to be able to walk around the studio he built??? I literally get chills.

ABD trips usually have a set minimum age.

I have not seen a trip in which babies would be allowed to travel.

We've only done the one ABD trip to Italy, but I can tell you that I still keep in contact with some of the folks that we traveled with.

Some of the very best memories of a very memorable trip were because of the folks on our Adventure

Most folks come back from their Adventure with a whole set of new friends. You get to know your travel companions very well.

It's a different set of circunstances than a cruise. When cruising, you have a huge list of events and activities from which to chosse and you run into people occasionally.

On an ABD trip.....except for free time....you do everything together. Almost all of the activities are shared, so there are a great many common experiences which seem to bond folks together.

I'm looking forward to this.

Who's going with us?

man how can I choose?? I got the PCC which I get to meet lots of DIS'ers and never been on a cruise AND I got this ABD which I have never been to DL, CA and the touring is amazing :confused3:confused3 I think I will do I poll. I am soo confused now LOL!

I am with you- never been on a cruise ( well once when I was a kid -hardly counts though)...would love for the first one to be a Disney one

I did go to Disneyland once , (also as a kid of about 11) but again, that was when dinosaurs roamed the earth...teehee....so I know things have changed a whole lot. and all the backstage stuff would be really cool
for me of course the deciding factor will be $$$.......if I can find a more fulltime job between now and then

as a couple of you noted the three hour time difference between the east Coast and Disneyland will help all the non early morning folk ( me included)

I can't get up in the am either! Working nights did me in!

I so hope I can decide!

I didnt take this as disrespectful at all....

I was so proud of getting up that early, that I had to share it....and brag a little bit.

It probably wont happen again until this ABD trip.:lmao:

I am NOT a morning person.

The only rope drops I ever made were when I worked at DAk and HAD to be there pre-opening.

I share your sentiments... plus ITS MY VACATION AND IF I DON'T WANT TO GET UP, THEN I"M NOT DOING IT! :-P

There is no Club 33 on this ABD trip.

But being able to step inside of Walt's apartment above the Fire Station was worth the price to me.
I had goosebumps the entire time I was in Walt's apartment.

There are several other surprises that are not listed on the schedule also.

simply an awesome experience...

Isn't there a stop in Club 33 for the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour at DL? Just a walk through of it I think I read somewhere. Before hearing about the ADB Backstage Magic tour I was thinking of just going to DL and doing the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour there.

A couple in our ABD group took the Walk in Walt's Footsteps and they did get a tour of Club 33.

Man I REALLY want to have dinner there sometime.

There you go Pete... New Prizematron Prize... We don't even need you to pay for the meal... just get us in!

For us it was a trip of a lifetime.

I highly recommend taking this trip...

I just found this thread from last May. I was still at WDW after the cruise so I never saw the thread back in May.

We're working out a few last minute details on the ABD trip before we start accepting reservations. I will tell you the initial pricing we've been quoted is $2219 per person (double occupancy), $1959 per child and $3107 for a single. I've been told this is tentative pricing and might even go lower (it's already a few hundred dollars less than the same tour this past April).

Included in that will be 1 night at Hollywood Renaissance Hotel and 4 nights at the Grand Californian at Disneyland. We'll be getting special access at Disney Imagineering, a VIP Tour of the Jim Henson Company Studios, 2 days of behind the scenes tours at Disneyland (and multiple fast passes to get on attractions!!), we'll go backstage at Jimmy Kimmel Live and also tour the El Capitan theater in Hollywood.

We're also going to arrange to do another 'live to tape' show while we are out there for everyone who wants to attend (not just those on the ABD trip) and I'm working on something VERY special for Walter's 50th birthday.

It's going to be a lot of fun!!

Pete

Pete, Kevin, or John is this still in the works for a "Live taping" of the show?
I was just wondering because we are now just 30 days out till the start of the trip.:banana:

Well, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have found the Fantasmic viewing area. And I did not break the train. :rolleyes1

That trip made me want to do another ABD trip, but I haven't figured out when or where, yet!

I loved Melanie's TR. So far it is the only TR with lots of pictures and the way she talked about this trip really made me excited about it.
So you were one of the Daisy's! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: It sounded like you guys had such a great time.

Are the park tickets included in the trip price for the 2 days of behind the scenes tours at Disneyland?

I'm not a morning person either and I got up to see the Muddy Buddies - so anything is possible. (My parents were quite shocked that I could actually be dressed and out of the hotel room by 6:45. :confused3 It sort of shocked me too!!)

If I get to go on the trip, I figure if I sort of stay on East Coast time during the trip it may just work for me since 7 a.m. would only be 10 a.m. according to my body - right????? :rolleyes1

Can you guys believe that we are 30 days from the start of the ABD portion of this trip?

There's no Club 33 visit on the ABD is there?

Until now there hasn't been an ABD group eat at Club 33, we will be the first. :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

Soooo excited!!!! I am starting to get that nervous energy giddy feeling when I think about the trip. If Brody Baby wouldn't notice, I would be all packed and ready to go by now. :lmao:

I think that plan has fallen by the wayside.

Our schedule is very full as is and now, with Pete going to Europe days after returning from California, there is no time after the Adventure to do this.

I am sure that there will be posts and blogs and photos and FB stuff....but no show.

I understand Brody getting nervous because Buddy does too. I have been pulling my luggage out of the closet, put something in it then put it back. Buddy gives me his sad eyes while the luggage is out.

Thanks, Kevin. I was thinking we didn't have time, but thought I would ask.
