ABD Backstage Magic 4/17 - 4/22/11

No CD here yet and I am the closest! Oh, well. Something to look forward too! I'll be going to the LA Galaxy game on Saturday. I was hoping we would be able to make a stop at Disneyland. Turns out my niece and nephew are bringing friends to the game so no quick stop at DL. It's going to feel a bit strange when I do go back after such a great trip. I won't get any VIP treatment anymore! No special fastpasses! However, walking by Walt's apartment, Club 33, and the Dream Suite will be so special now!

BTW has anyone got their survey yet? I thought we would get an email.

We got a generic Grand Californian survey - not a ABD one.

The DVD came from Georgia, so perhaps that's the delay - but then the FL people should have gotten theirs - Who knows with the USPS!

Have fun at DL - wish I was there. I'm finishing school this week (just have one more assignment to turn in and then I have my MS degree) and while I should be celebrating, I feel very bummed out. I need a job at Disneyland! LOL!

No, it wouldn't be worth it for their friends to buy tickets for just a few hours. My parents were supposed to go to the game but they are out of the country still. Now if they were coming we could of stopped as we all have APs!

That is interesting that the CD came from Georgia. I just assumed that Dean and Michael made copies and sent them out!

Our survey was in my email when I returned home. It was for the ABD trip unlike Becky's general Grand Californian survey.

Yeah, we can't help ourselves either. I'm sad Casey left last week, but pleased Jacob is out. He wasn't very good these last few weeks.



Backstage at American Idol would be a nice stop for a ABD trip. I know Disney doesn't OWN it, but they do have the tie-in at WDW. I'd would have also liked a visit to Dancing with the Stars.

I rarely cry at movies - but this little movie makes me misty (well this and the end of Toy Story 3, I cried like a baby during that one). I'm glad we have that montage and can look back at all the wonderful times we had.

I agree Becky! Since both Idol and DWTS tape at CBS Television City (odd that a FOX and and ABC show tape there) it would make a cool addition for ABD to consider. I wish I would have thought of that for a suggestion when I filled out the ABD survey.


I really enjoyed watching the movie and going through the pictures too! It made my Friday night!

Forgive the lack of quoting.

First of all, Mark, a tip of the cap to your Cardinals. The Brewers are playing woefully right now, so I really can't say anything to defend this team.

Kathy, Teresa, Jason, Bob and everybody! I miss all you guys too, our ABD trip constituted the best vacation of my life. Certainly that title will be tested this summer in Ireland, but it should hold the record for at least a few more months.

Again, I feel my parents are a lost cause. And this week has been pretty crazy for me, with 3 AP tests I could hardly find the time to get back on the boards. But I'm getting used to it. So happy there is a place for us all to reconnect.


Random memory from the trip: eating at the Disney Studios commissary. That place was legit, and you could really feel the energy of the studio.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the commissary. We ate outside and just loved it. Although I felt like you should have gone through a brief training session to figure out how to dispose of your garbage when you were finished. Anyone notice all the options for throwing out your trash! But that was actually really cool. Disney is "green."

Another thing I really loved was seeing all the photos of our ABD group in special areas of DL. I really like that one photo where we are going backstage near IASW and everyone in line for the ride is turned around and staring at our group. Probably wondering "What in the world are THOSE people doing"


In other news...

We finally sat down as a family and watched the DVD again. Previously Jeff and I just watched it on my monitor screen. But we popped it in the living room last night. Poor Stephanie cried at the end. Theresa, can you pass over the tissues?

For the sake of the future ABDers reading this thread....

We never said the Commissary was bad or that the food was poor.

We said that during our two previous experiences, this lunch was rushed and that we felt that the Studio Store across the street from the Commissary was more of a "once in a life time" opportunity and that your short time frame would might better spent visiting that instead of the cafeteria.

As your trip seemed to have better timing in this area, you were lucky to experience both and not have to choose.
