Has ABC's programming guru's truly hit the bottom of the idea pool with their "Wife Swap" program??
My DH, DS, DD, and I were watching the NBA finals last night and the promo for this loser came on. We were all stunned!
How in the world could anything positive or moral come of something like this??? We are usually a fan of reality TV, but come on.......
I find it tactless and insulting.

Isn't this the same network that gives us "Who Wants to Marry My Dad?" and "The Bachelor"?

I'm not surprised. I think that Walt would be rolling around in his grave if he knew what the company that bears his name is doing.

I remember a while back joking about ridiculous ideas for reality shows and one name that popped up was "Trading Spouses."
:teeth:

Good joke, but bad idea for a show. I give it less than two months.

Dont tell DH! :p

That is a dumb idea! Who wins in the end...really?

this was a skit on the Chappell show. It was even painful to watch as a comedy skit, I can't imagine watching it for real...:scared1:

I don't see it lasting very long.

That is pretty stupid - I don't get what we would even get out of it....some of these reality shows are just going too far, I think. Sooner or later, we will get burnt out, and maybe they will die out some...

What ever happened to the Fox show where they said there would be no end, you could stay on Eden forever?

I finds most, not all, reality tv to be tactless and insulting. Thats why I don't watch it.

OK, from what I read, it is not supposed to be as disgusting as it sounds. Supposedly, it is more about 2 very different women switching houses & trying to run the house the way they run their own. I know, still not right, but not as bad as the title suggests.

This is today's world. People lack so much morality and spirituality that they have to keep inventing new ways to stay enertained. It is pathetic. The best thing we can do is just turn the T.V. off.

I agree with everyone else, a very bad idea for the network owned by Disney to produce. (Well, bad for anyone to produce, but especially for the Disney owned network.)

From what I read, the idea isn't swapping wives for sexual relations, it's about swapping the wives roles in the household.

For instance, the original British version has a working mom with one kid swap families with a homemaker with six kids. I think the tension and confusion that might go hand in hand is what the show is looking for.

No where does it say that the wives are going to sleep with the swapped hubby. I would put it in the same category as the show Faking It - putting people in unfamiliar territory.

In all honesty, I'll watch the first episode just to see. If it grabs my attention I'll probably watch it again - if it doesn't then there are many more channels out there to watch.

Many months ago, I was contacted by the Producers about participating in this show. (I declined, as I enjoy watching reality shows, I have no wish to particapate.)

The premise of the show really was "innocent". It is set up with 2 women changing places. It does not involve the "bedroom". The women are to care for the kid(s) and household. I think it is suppost to show that the "grass isn't always greener in the other yard."

Anyhow, I gleaned they were having problems finding families to participate. So unless the show has changed since.........

So oogieboogie - you thought it was more about women trading lives to see what the other goes through!

Interesting...

I'm just reading what the original British series say about it. It's about two women who swap families for ten days. The first 5 days they abide by the house rules that the previous wife sets, then the next 5 days they are allowed to set their own rules.

Think about it, if your family was used to smoking in the house, suddenly a new wife comes in and says no more smoking in the house, wouldn't it create tension? I think it's that tension and confusion is what the producers are aiming for.

I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. I think shows like the Bachelor/Bachelorette, Temptation Island, Forever Eden etc. are much worse than what this seems to portray.

I agree oogieboogie. I just think if I switched households with my best friend how crazy it would be for everyone. I can't imagine switching with someone TOTALLY different than me. I'll give it a shot.
