ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

 I'll have to look that one up too!

I don't think you're gonna FIIINND it!!! :rolleyes1

Hopefully after reading Glenn's link you will come back, read carefully, think about it and it will come to you. It's no fun if I have to 'splain dem!

But what's the point? Wouldn't that be sorta like having a Vegetarian Steak Dinner?
I think my definition for what you consider "swag" is more accurate! :rolleyes1
east coast/midwest will there ever be common ground on the swag.

At the risk of looking like an ignoramous... ummmm, what's a coozie?? That's what we call our jacuzzi, and I doubt they're giving away free spas.

14?! What kind of boozer do you think I am?? (Actually, others guessed much higher, and you may be in the ball park.) To be honest, I haven't even counted them up yet.

I was going to say the same thing, Marv.
marv hits it on the head with his definition...and with how you were drinking this night, i think you will be pursuaded by your trip friends to have a few more.

A coozie is that foam thingy you slide a canned drink into to help keep it cold longer.
i think most guys have multiple coozies in multiple locations....i have some in the camper, about 5 in the garage so if friends come over there are some right there by the drink fridge...and inside above the micro...so they are handy for drinks inside as well.

i even have ones that fit bottles as well as cans.
:thumbsup2

Thank you! So I only look slightly like an ignoramous. At least in the coozie dept. But I have to ask: why do they give those out at a professional conference? :confused3 I mean I can see those at like a outdoorsmen/ hunting/ fishing/ boating/ hunting show, but for engineers? I don't get that.
once again marv got it below, they started doing that to keep there name out there, and for something different, most people at my conferences pass up the pens because they have so many, they go for what is different.

i actually used a few of them this weekend, so they did get some use, and everyone knew which was mine since it had the logos of companies i do some work with.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :scared1:

As for the coozies, it is something that companys know most people will put to use so they put their company logo on there and get essentially free advertising.......along with keeping their name "at the tips of your fingers" in hopes a potential customer will think of them first when needing to order something. :confused3
very nice explination marv.

Liesa doesn't always give a greeting, but when she does she chooses Dos Shaquis!!!

is shaquis spanish for "the twins"

or does it mean ladies.

east coast/midwest will there ever be common ground on the swag.
You have to go back to my post about two pages back where you defined SWAG and I expounded on your explanation. It was some good stuff but I must have ninja posted cause nobody commented on it..... :guilty:
is shaquis spanish for "the twins"

or does it mean ladies.
Completely a made up word that was used purely to be close to the name of the beer, and to sound like a word that describes the greeting.

DOS EQUIS - pronounced "dose eh keys" where DOS is the spanish word for two and EQUIS is spanish for the letter X. This Mexican brew has a picture of two large X's on the front, therefore the name.

DOS SHAQUIS - pronounced "dose shay keys" where DOS is again the spanish word for two, and SHAQUIS is hopefully now self explanatory, but if not think burlesque, or sights you saw on the nudie beach....... :rolleyes1

And now that I had to explain it, I think any chance of people getting the humor has long since passed. :sad2:

YOu know Tammie (MAGICFOR2) lives in Klamath Falls. I wonder if she'd be up for a DISMeet on her home turf? We'll (my kids and I )will be headed her way for an airshow on the airbase there, and getting some of her hospitality. I can't wait!!!!!!!!

Your time with family sounds wonderful!! I hope you have a simply super time with everyone gathered. I'll be asking how it turned out!

I wouldn't doubt it if my mom and sister go to the airshow. They love doing stuff like that.

It's always a great time. Lots of fun!! I'll let you know how it all goes after we get home.

Have a safe and magical trip!! Can't wait to hear all about it and enjoy all the time with your mom and aunt that you can!!!

That's where I live - KFalls! Small world, huh? Did you grow up in Bonanza?

Edited to say: I see Liesa broke the news already :) If you think you'd be up to meet for a little bit, PM me so we can exchange numbers!

Very Small World!!! Nope I didn't grow up in the area, I'm a California Girl through and through. When my dad retired about 6 years ago that's where they decided to move to and my sister just moved up there about 2 years ago. She did live in Klamath for about 6 months if I remember correctly. We grew up in Oakley (which was small at the time but still bigger than Klamath) which is about an hour away from San Francisco on a good day. Now I live in San Ramon which is about 30 mins away from San Francisco on a good day!!

I'd love to exchange numbers and see if we could meet up!!! It would be fun to finally meet someone from the boards!! I'm kind of sad to be missing out on meeting Liesa this week at Disneyland but hey the hubby has to work so I can keep those trips coming!!

My weekend was so nutty it looks like I read your update but didn't actually comment, arrgh!

I love the mai tai tip, though I'd worry it would leak as my lapu seemed to get drippy towards the end. I totally agree with Magdalene about the wasting of the pineapple but there is just something very fun about picking the darn thing up.

I am sorry to hear your aunt is in such bad condition. Prayers that this trip goes well and you can all have some special time together.

Travel safe!

Well, first things first. Thank goodness Leanne finally got there, I can't imagine how stressful that must of been. Glad to see you liked your Lapu-lapu. I myself liked it, but thought it to be too much also, so your not alone Lessa. :goodvibes
I ended up giving it to my hubby 1)because it's a family place and I didn't want to get sloshed infront of my kids (would not have been pretty) as it was they were already making fun of me with what I did have to drink. and 2) because I wanted to try something else. :goodvibes I think I ended up getting a magical star (stupidly-seeing how I can get that anywhere on property-should have tried a back-scratcher or something), veeeeery yummy! I don't normally drink a lot, but something about being on vaca, I just have to try the drinks-especially at Disney! :confused3

2010 for Marathon Weekend, on Friday we went to MK, our favorite place to eat is CHH - well, I got in line took everyone's orders, and they went to get "our table" A cm came over (she had a clipboard! I thought, we are in so much trouble NOW!!)

nope - she saw our buttons, loved the kiss dh gave me and decided we were the "Family of the Day"

so we got this table!

IMG_2341.jpg

DD was thrilled! :rotfl2:
Honestly - the table was roped off, and the CM's took our order, and then brought it to us - we had real plates and silverware - and all the drinks we wanted!!

Great memories!!

Your so cute Sandy, you thought you were in trouble. :rotfl: I'm so happy for your wonderful surprise!! How cool is that!

Yeah, that is why we are all like one big DISfunctional (Glennism) family that when we ever get to meet in real life, it is like we have known each other forever!!! :goodvibes That is what I love about all the threads and friends I am a part of here. We pick on each other mercilessly at times and laugh at ourselves and each other. But when all is said and done, we are all probably closer to each other (not actually having met each other in most cases) than tons of people who have known each other their whole lives! :grouphug:

Beautifully said- so very true!

::yes:: I couldn't have said it better myself, Marv. I'm with Rosie, this is my escape for a little while. I love coming here knowing that no matter our differences we all have one thing that brings us together....our love for Disney. Where in the world can you go with so many different views on life and still have everyone get along and care for one another like we do? And your right, it's like we've known each other for ever when we do meet. I had more fun visiting OR and hanging with that great group of gals, that will NOT be my last meet. :goodvibes

Speaking of Oregon, I guess Portland had quite the show today....so how was your bike ride this morning Liesa?!? Was it a bit "nippy?"

I think that I am one of the few on the boards who does not like the Lapu Lapu, I know, it is hard to believe, it was just too strong for me.

Right there with ya babe! If were ever there together we can sip on something different so we won't feel left out. :goodvibes

I wouldn't expect you to know what a SWAG is. It is a highly technical Engineering term. :snooty:

It stands for Scientific Wild A-- Guess.......

When I asked my dh (who is also a engineer) what SWAG is, he said Super Wild A** Guess.

Yeah, I saw that... and it looks like our tandem SWAG technique was a miserable failure for both of us. :lmao:

(that almost sounded dirty, didn't it?)

Mr. Toad was my favorite Disney World ride. Now I HAVE to go to DL to ride it. Something about the Train and the devils that made me smile.

I KNEW YOU WERE A BAD GIRL in DISguise (is that another glennism, or is it a Millieism now?. Uhhhhh, hmmmm. :rotfl: You know I love you Pat. I need to call you soon, we need to catch up!

I guess it's understandable why there aren't any pictures of AFTER. ;)

Wait. Flasher? Rosie was there?

No, no Glenn, Rosie is the pole dancer, Liesa is the flasher. :sad2: And I thought you were one of the more astute one's on here.

The good thing is that when we need our friends here, all the jokes immediately stop and everyone becomes the bestest of support groups!!!:goodvibes
I'm really looking forward to meeting up with you and Tanya this trip Jen! One of the best things about my dates having to change for sure!!!

So true Marv. :thumbsup2
Your meets sound like they will be good one's. :goodvibes Be sure to get lots of pictures.

To all my lovlies...

Alas the carriage is waiting to take me to slumberland. My battery is dying (the computer's, not mine) and everyone's asleep, so I can't go find it. I have a HUGE bonfire/ airsoft/ croquet/ volleyball/ BBQ/ late night movie party tomorrow and need to get some sleep before a long day. I won't be on Sunday, as you know, so will have to finish up responses and catching up on threads on Monday. Although... I won't have a lot of time then either. I leave on Tuesday for California, and will be on and off while there for the week.

Trusting you will all have a WONDERFUL weekend ahead! Mary should have an update up Monday or early in the week. Until then....

I hope your trip is a wonderful one. I'll be praying it so. :goodvibes

I loved your story of your experience at the Tambu lounge. I had never been interested in the Lapu drink, it just seemed a bit of a rip off to charge so much more for it being served inside a pineapple. I love pineapples, but never saw the point of using one as a drinks container. However, your story really changed my mind and I am now seriously considering getting one in October!! :cool1:

:thumbsup2 Look at the ingredients and see if the drinks have things in them that taste or look good to you. That's how I have to order them.

I wouldn't doubt it if my mom and sister go to the airshow. They love doing stuff like that.

Sending you a PM!

A coozie is that foam thingy you slide a canned drink into to help keep it cold longer.

Saw your FB post about packing. I guess that means you have everything you need so far to do your famous Liesa greetings........ :rolleyes1

I thought that was a cozy!

Hope you had the sweetest dreams - and I just know you will have a magical time!! :wizard:

Looking forward to "seeing" Mary around...

I really had to go back to find out how you were using SWAG (another midwesterner who thought swag meant something else!)

I'm ready to give up running another Half.

not ready to give up Going to Disney!!

I thought a swag was a curtain piece. :confused3

It's a good thing y'all know what she's talking about. I have zero clue! :confused3 Please, enlighten me.

Now who's the sweet, innocent one!:lovestruc

My weekend was so nutty it looks like I read your update but didn't actually comment, arrgh!

I love the mai tai tip, though I'd worry it would leak as my lapu seemed to get drippy towards the end. I totally agree with Magdalene about the wasting of the pineapple but there is just something very fun about picking the darn thing up.

Here's another tip - If you don't poke a hole through the bottom with your straw, it won't get drippy! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Well, first things first. Thank goodness Leanne finally got there, I can't imagine how stressful that must of been. Glad to see you liked your Lapu-lapu. I myself liked it, but thought it to be too much also, so your not alone Lessa. :goodvibes

A back scratcher huh? That sounds interesting - do they give you a back scratcher in the glass?

::yes:: I couldn't have said it better myself, Marv. I'm with Rosie, this is my escape for a little while. When I asked my dh (who is also a engineer) what SWAG is, he said Super Wild A** Guess.

[/COLOR]

:rotfl: Now that's super technical!:thumbsup2

No, I won't leave you in suspense. Apparently, they only do that a few days out of the week. :confused3 I thought every website I looked at said, "Nightly at 6:00" but guess not. I was really pretty bummed out, but there's always next time. Besides, if I had taken time to see one, I'd have missed out on my really cool, hip tiki photoshoot.

Well, we couldn't have that! We've all seen torches before anyway. Tiki Liesa is entertaining all by herself! :thumbsup2

When I asked my dh (who is also a engineer) what SWAG is, he said Super Wild A** Guess.

Nerdy engineering humor rocks! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

You have to go back to my post about two pages back where you defined SWAG and I expounded on your explanation. It was some good stuff but I must have ninja posted cause nobody commented on it..... :guilty:
maybe you can quote it for me, i still dont see it.
:surfweb:

I thought it meant "two Shaquille O'Neal's".

Well at least SOMEBODY got it!!! :thumbsup2
Cozy is what you hope for after enough cold adult beverages in the coozie!!! :goodvibes

i got it as well, i was just trying to play off your word a little.
:sad2:

and im happy that i spelled coozie right to get this line of comments off on the right foot....:banana:i was for sure i had it all wrong.

Have a great trip to CA!:cool1::woohoo::yay:

Thanks, Jen!! I really hope it will be one full of special memories.

I'll have Liesa 'splain to me :lmao::lmao:

Uhhh, I don't think so...

marv hits it on the head with his definition...and with how you were drinking this night, i think you will be pursuaded by your trip friends to have a few more.

I did no such thing. 2 was plenty (and the drink budget for the night was out). Friends don't let friends spend their whole booze budget in one night, unless you live in Crapistan.

i think most guys have multiple coozies in multiple locations....i have some in the camper, about 5 in the garage so if friends come over there are some right there by the drink fridge...and inside above the micro...so they are handy for drinks inside as well.

i even have ones that fit bottles as well as cans.
:thumbsup2

And you're calling ME a lush??!!?? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

once again marv got it below, they started doing that to keep there name out there, and for something different, most people at my conferences pass up the pens because they have so many, they go for what is different.

okaaaaaay, Dan. Whatever.

is shaquis spanish for "the twins"

 This is about the point I think I was catching on.

You have to go back to my post about two pages back where you defined SWAG and I expounded on your explanation. It was some good stuff but I must have ninja posted cause nobody commented on it..... :guilty:

And if Dan's comment didn't make the (head)lights come on, ummmm.... this certainly did....You have me rethinking my wardrobe that's packed for my trip.

Have fun in California, Liesa!

Thanks, Tina.

I wouldn't doubt it if my mom and sister go to the airshow. They love doing stuff like that.

It's always a great time. Lots of fun!! I'll let you know how it all goes after we get home.

Looking forward to hearing about it; especially if that meet works out with Tammie- and remember, pix or it didnt' happen! ;)

Have a safe and magical trip!! Can't wait to hear all about it and enjoy all the time with your mom and aunt that you can!!!

Awwww, thank you so much! I am about to finish up my packing, and will head to the airport in about 3 hours.

Safe travels, Liesa.

Thanks, Kathy! I still have a few things to throw in that bag of mine- debating on taking tiaras for we 3 ladies for our day at Disney, my lanyard with pins (the few I have), and my jewelry. You know, girly stuff like that.

I thought it meant "two Shaquille O'Neal's".

Men.

Liesa ya don;t have to' splain cuz Marv did !:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yes, I saw that... these men feed off each other, dont' they?
