Did anyone see this yesterday? They removed every thing in the house that was not made in America and the house was empty.

Now they are going to try and refurnish it with american products. The piece also said some thing very interesting, they claim if we increase our purchases of American products by 1% it will add 200,000 jobs to the economy.

Some patterns of corelle ware are made in the U.S.

Fiestaware is made in the U.S.

Rada cutlery has utensils made in the U.S.

Nordicware is made in the U.S.

Thank you so much for the info. I should have remembered Fiestaware because I'm considering it as a replacement for my current dishes.

I am now the proud owner of a Nordicware wok, made in the USA! Found it at Costco, very affordable & performing quite well after a couple of uses.

Watching it and loving it! It even inspired me to go around my house last night and look for things that were made in America. It's really jaw dropping how many things in your home are not made in this country! I think it's an important thing to point this out on TV in this way because hopefully it will inspire Americans to but more made in USA products (and show them how to) and maybe create a few more jobs!

We bought a set of glasses a while back from Costco for $19.99 JUST BECAUSE they were made in the USA and threw out our other glasses. It had 16 8 oz and 16 12 oz. I think that is a great price, too. I usually see quite a bit of Made in the USA and organic products at Costco. Of course, there is a lot that isn't, too...

Researching on the net, I don't think it's going to be hard to find appliances. I think electronics are going to be the main problem.

No offense, but throwing away perfectly good stuff (not made in America) to replace them with American made isn't really good sense. I can see replacing anything that needs replacing with American made, but getting rid of stuff you've already paid the Chinese for, with new American stuff is kind of silly. Admittedly, the U.S. manufacturers will like it, but it doesn't effect the Chinese ones any.

I don't think the object is to effect the Chinese. According to world news on ABC, if we increased our American purchases by simply 1% that would add 200,000 jobs to the economy. they did not say how they came up with these numbers.

Also according to them during 1969 (I think that was the year they mentioned) only 1 out of 9 products purchased were made else where. Now it's 50% .

What do we do when those numbers hit 80-90%

This series is an eye opener to me. I may not throw out stuff I already have but I can going forward be a more conscientious (spelling help please) buyer.

However, even the foreign made stuff helps America. Most of the machines that make it are made in America. Also, honestly, who benefits more from the cheap plastic cup that costs 5 cents to produce in china, but is sold for 50 cents at Wal-Mart--China or America?

What do you think they will reveal about the prices tomorrow? I wonder if reporting that the bedroom furniture was cheaper than what they had before is a hint about the total price tag. I expect the kitchen appliances to cost more. Did anyone see any other electronics? A tv?

No and I think they alluded to that at the end of the show. Dan said some thing like "I'll give you a hint, they won't be watching our broadcast" i took that to mean they could not find any American made electronics.

They said they did find the prices to be all over the place. The drapes were only ~70 bucks but the coach was about 1500 (or the table, I forgot). I do know Viking is a top of the line kitchen appliance maker so I'm sure those are not inexpensive.

yesterday they mentioned that if everyone bought american it would cost roughly $7-750 I think over a year..and gave the large number of jobs it would create. I think the overall cost is going to be nuch higher than that for re-doing the house, I wonder if the family has what they paid for thier original stuff s a comparison? The appliances are going to be kicker..but I was giggling about them getting on the computer immediately to find items...uh, the computer was probably not made in the USA, just a little irony if it wasn't. I am glad I am following the report tho, gives me hope! well, except for a TV...

This thread just reminded me of the old "Look for the Union label" jingle from when I was a kid. I wonder why they stopped all that. check it out on you tube, there is a guy who predicted today's mess back then, it's in the 1978 ILGWU one, they even sing about the end results in the song. how did we manage the tricky you turn back to baffled by the outcome?
