Here in Orlando, the word that rhymes with Ship was heard loud and clear a number of times. What's amazing is how they kept letting it air over and over, every chorus.

I still can't believe the song won. I don't necessarily dislike rap or hip-hop, but I just don't think that was a GOOD song.

ETA -- our's was edited and I am assuming the real song doesn't have her repeating "witch" over and over.

I liked the Brokeback Mountain music a lot. I can't remember the other music, so I can't make a good judgement.

Brokeback Mountain's 13 minutes of guitar music should not win an Academy Award over a superbly crafted score by John Williams. But this is nothing new. John Williams has gotten the shaft many times when a nobody composer steals the Oscar from him. I think the Academy has some kind of personal vendetta against him, but I can't figure out what it is. He should have far far more than 4 Oscars in his 30+ years of putting out the very best in film music. I feel bad for him. If I were the composer of Brokeback, I'd actually feel embarrased to take this award over John Willams.

I think that John Williams is super too but I'm not sure if this was his best work. However, all of the Star Wars films were definitely shafted by the Academy in just about every way possible.
