Abandoned Attractions

Not an "attraction" per se, but "abandoned and rotting" nonetheless.

Isn't this where they are putting the new Animation resort?

It is so awesome to read thru all these
WOW!

When is the New Animation Resort opening; what will it entail?

This is some very interesting reading!

Sort of creepy.....but very very cool !!
I wouldn't even think I was at Disney World anymore....
I always imagine everything there is always so perfect, and clean, and special, and magical....Very weird to see this...

Thanks for Sharing !!

Here's a couple more taken from POP Century in March of 2009.

If you look closely you can see some railings broken.

Now that's what they could put in as an Icon to replace the controversial Sorcerer's Hat at DHS...a nice stack for the reactor, Mickey ears and all. They could convert 'Backlot Tours' to 'Three Mile Island Tour'.

To complete the theme, they build a new Value Resort called "The Fallout Years". All rooms could be underground bunkers.

and don't forget the signature restaurant, with the house special being sauteed three-eyed fish

just wanted to say that I really enjoyed (enjoy) this thread and a big THANK YOU to everyone who shared

I don't think I have anything new, but just some "no-longer-there" attractions I remember:

- the Princess Lilly - ate there every time we went as a kid. I think this was our only Character Meal
- Mr. Toad's Wild Ride .... was a "trill ride" for a kid. Like Pooh, but not as much
- Alien Encounter - actually liked this attraction - way better than Stitch
- and last but not least ... Pleasure Island. We went there during Spring Break and had 2 great memories:
1. in the Adventurers club they asked our group where we were from (Lehigh University) and what our mascot was (the Engineers) and proceeded to make fun of the fact that we would get people with our slide rules for the rest of the evening
2. One of our friends gave another of our friends (who was under 21) an Adult Beverage and was thusly kicked out. It is still great to make fun of him for getting kicked out of Disney World

Has anyone witnessed the wave's that used to hit the Poly's shores back in the day? Did people body surf on them,I know you cant swim in the lakes but back then I think you used to be able to.

This thread caught my eye, we are WDW now and I was at the MK the other day used the bathrooms in toontown and just couldn't believe how nasty they were and that there would be bathrooms like that at WDW, then I remembered they are tearing down TT and that must be why, but they could keep the bathrooms passable in the meantime, geez!

This by no means is an abandoned "attraction". But I believe WDW did away with the Mickey shaped plate that kid's meals were served in? I loved those plates! We would always bring them home, and are down to our last two. My boys love having me use them for lunches, etc.

Looking at those photos, I wonder why the oversized numbers haven't been removed yet. I would assume they would be one of the first things to go??

Probably one of the last, actually, when they are ready to do finishing work on the main hall. Why it was originally done so early I have no idea. Typically I wouldn't want to risk damage to the finished work with so much other heavy construction going on.

Fair enough... my assumption was that they would want to do it first, at least create some kind of facade that would cover it to keep it uniform with the rest of building. If not for looks, at least for structure in case they ran into any issues down the road!

I've got a couple of MK things that have been abandon/missing/perhaps just mis-remembered.

There used to be a CS restaurant as you walked into Adventureland from the hub called, I believe, Adventureland Veranda. It was on the right as you went over the bridge into Adventureland and I believe the building still remains vacant.

There was something in Tomorrowland in the building on the left as you entered from the hub. It was in the space between the Castle lagoon and Mission to the Moon/Mars/Alien Encounter/Stitch attraction. Can't recall just what it was, perhaps just a movie?

1- Yes. The space is still there (behind the Dole Whips/Aloha Isle.)
It is used during some of the "parties" as a refreshment serving and photo-op spot.

2- On your right, as you enter Tomorrrowland from the Hub is the theater for the former America the Beautiful (CircleVision 360.) In the same place that is now Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.
On the left as you enter is now Stitch, but was once
