River Country looks so disgusting now.
We drove by in boats and took this photo...

River Country looks so disgusting now.
I remember that but I was thinking that after it closed as a water park, it was still used as a resort pool for awhile??
Right after it closed this was a common rumor (hope?) for RC.
The plan would have been that it would have been from RC and WL.
One of the biggest miscalculations of guest's desires that Disney ever made.
Sitting on the grounds of THE most popular theme parks on the planet, they decided
guests would rather spend their vacation days doing arts and crafts and hands-on classes of the kind
found at Community Colleges in any part of the country.
Wow. Just wow.
I'm sorry if it already was mentionned. But I still don't understand why they are planning to create a new value hotel, when they still have the basis for the rest of pop.
I miss the Golden Girls house. I love that show, and have never seen the house.
I remember taking a picture on a boat. Either at MK or Disney village. Can anyone help me with this.
I was sitting on a vintage/victorian looking sofa.
Could it be the Empress Lilly?
That IS the location of the "new" resort.
They are building in that unfinished "half" of the resort.
Just a little "Hmmmmmmmmmm" to think about...
The Golden Girls was on the air about 3 years before they built the Disney/MGM Studios Backlot.
Golden Girls premiere: September 14, 1985
Disney/MGM Studios Opened: May 1, 1989

My memories for most of these gone-but-not-forgotten attractions are from 3rd grade ('83) and 8th grade ('88). So some are vivid and some are just disjointed impressions. Fun to think back on those family vacations, though!
If You Had Wings / If You Could Fly (trips: '83 & '88):
For that one, I could only remember the "traffic cop" and "bon voyage" video segments and the wind tunnel at the end. But I clearly remember my dad pointing out the fans on the sides of the track inside the tunnel and seeing that we were still going about 2mph!
this ride was one of our favorites. we still talk/laugh about those fans on the floor! it always makes me smile through the tunnel on Buzz too--to think of what used to be!
wasn't there a hot tub guy too? i know that some of the old footage on El Rio del Tiempo reminded me of If You Had Wings.
Wasn't there like a water show inside a building at the MK?
I don't think I've seen anyone else mention it, and I guess it's not so much "abandoned" as just reconstituted, but I miss the Empress Lilly River Boat Character Breakfast.
