Hi

Sorry, I 'm still new here, not sure if I am posting these correctly. In AB, is it a two story walk-up? We are coming with a stroller, is it best to request a 1st floor room? Are the rooms nice? Just saw a picture that seemed dated and it looked small and shabby.

Thanks for all of the previous answers

Alligator Bayou, I think...

Don't know if they have elevators on the bayou side, hmmmm... I'd request a first floor.

Yes, the AB bldgs are only 2 levels, with no elevators. I have been lucky and always ended up on the ground level. I would imagine the 2nd level is very quiet though. If you will have a stroller and are concerned about lugging it up a flight of stairs, then I would request a 1st floor room.
To the best of my knowledge, the rooms were all rehabbed recently. We just stayed there, in bldg 14, last June. It was wonderful. The rooms were very nice. They are more 'rustic' in decor than the mansion sections. But I love the landscaping in the AB section. It is wonderful to just walk around the area. I think you will enjoy your stay there. There is a great playground for the little ones behind the main pool area on Ole Man Island. My dd still enjoys it and she is 12 now!!! She loved it when she was 6 and had to go there every single day to play.

And welcome to the DIS boards!!

I think the pp answered all your questions, but I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed POR with our dd (4 at the time). We went 2 years ago and the room was fine. The only bad thing is with little kids there is no privacy at all! When it was bed time, we had to turn off all the lights and me and dh had to get in bed and pretend to go to sleep. Of course we were usually so tired at night that we would end up passing out anyways! And yes you need to request a 1st floor room, the last thing you want to do at the end of a long day is climb a flight of stairs with a sleeping baby. We also stayed in 14 and it is a great location...close to everything!

unless there are 5 of you - how about the mansion side - much prettier and it does have elevators....

I would definitely request a first floor. We ended up with a first floor without asking but I don't know if it was luck or they try to put the people with stroller age kids on the ground floor anyhow. I will definitely make note on any future ressies though because 2nd floor with strollers would be a big pain.

As for the rooms...they are very nicely remodeled. They are not by any means large rooms but we stayed 10 of us in two connecting rooms just fine. That was even using a pack and play and having two strollers and a ton of luggage in the rooms. We are usually only in the room to get ready and to sleep. It's Disney and any time sitting around the hotel room feels like wasting time to me..LOL I wouldn't even sleep if I didn't have to. ::yes::

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at POR in AB section! Can't wait to go back!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the replies! I just called our travel agent to request a 1st floor room in the #14 building with a corner room. We do have 5 people in our party DD's are 2, 4 and 7 which is why our travel agent suggested Alligator Bayou. Thanks so much to everyone that responded!

Hi,

How did you get your TickerFactory on your signature, I can only seem to get the link to show up.

Thanks,
