Hey guys, my friend and I who are both 21 are staying at the ASSp Nov 15th to 21st. Right now I have us booked as preferred room, my question to you is do you think it is worth the extra money over the course of the stay? I know ASSp is a big resort so being close to the pool and main building will have perks, but is it really that much of a hassle to do the extra walking do you think?

Also I have some questions about alcohol, does the convenience store sell bottles at decent prices of liquor or are you basically going to pay out the behind for it on property? What are the exact rules for alcohol at the pool? I would've assumed it was mostly banned, but the bar is right there, and in some other threads people spoke of guests having coolers full of beer at the pull late into the night.

That brings me to my next question, noise at these resorts. Is it really as bad as some portray it? Being that we are both 21 I don't think we will be super sensitive to it, but on the flipside sometimes we will just want to relax in the environment. Thanks guys, any input is welcome.

I don't think it is worth the extra cost at all. Unless u have small children or a handicapped person. As for drinks I think I saw wine in the snack bar but they do have a little poolside bar that u can get drinks from. ANd I myself have never been bothered with noise maybe the next door toilet flushing but thats about it and we have been there during the cheer leading season. Personally I don't find preferred rooms worth the extra $$$. I'll be there a few days before you and have put in a request for the Touchdown section, which is close to everything, but a std. room. In Sept. I stayed in the Homerun section and found it quiet and close to the Grand Slam pool. It was about a 5 min. walk to the food court.

Hard liquor is EXPENSIVE on property (as is other alcohol) - you might want to consider bringing your own. As far as the pool goes, I've brought cans of beer (in koozies) out to enjoy. No glass is allowed, but you'd be fine with plastic cups.

The noise at any of the values has never been a problem for me. I do avoid rooms near the main pool since they can be noisy.

we have stayed at AS Sports on several occasions and always booked a preferred location but I might add that the non-preferred buildings are all close enough to walk to where you got to go!! Yes you can have alcohol at the pools as long as it isn't in glass containers. I would suggest maybe going to the Hess Shop near downtown disney to purchase your alcohol as it is pretty pricey in the gift shop. I think you will have a great time at AS Sports. The pools are only loud during the day as hopefully most of the younger kids are asleep at night time.

Which building do you guys suggest I request if not preferred? Also, is a room for two adults by default two beds or just a king size bed? I didn't see it notate either on the reservation, or should I just request/ask to find out which? Thanks guys.

Ask for a room in Touchdown.Took us less than a few minutes to walk to the food court to get refills.We were on the back side of building 7 and it was nice to be close to the parking lot too to be able to unload the car and load it back up.

I wouldn't worry about it since most rooms come with 2 beds. The rooms with kings are usually handicapped-accessible and are mostly requested. Once my DF and I were at ASMo and the 1st room we got was a king. Since we're just friends, we called to the front desk and they switched us to a room with 2 beds - no problem!

It has been posted that the preferred buildings have been recently refurbished.

All of the rooms at All Star Sports are being refurbished between last June (2007) and Febuary 2008. They are being freshly painted, new carpet, curtains, furniture, bedding, ect.

If that is not important to you than save the extra $12 a night a get a standard room.

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

Most of the noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values and some other resorts are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests have found that using a fan or a white noise machine helps them sleep better.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

Silly ?, but I am from PA where liquor is only in state stores, in Florida do they sell handles of liquor in grocery stores? Or what is the deal? Thanks guys.

We just returned from a stay at AS Sports. We were in a Standard Room in the Home Run section that had been refurbished. So at least some of the Standard Rooms have been refurbished. It was very nice, everything was clean and new. I don't think you need to pay for a preferred - I can't see any advantage to them.

I don't feel like AS Sports is all that big - I was surprised, based on others comments, how close all the buildings are. It took us no more than 5 minutes to get to the food court. The pool and laundry were one minute away. I personally would never ask for the Touchdown building. There was always people playing in the courtyard (playing field) area and everyone in the Homeroom buildings cuts thru Touchdown to get to the main area. There is alot of traffic in that area and it really would only save you a minute or two.

We really liked AS Sports. I was very pleasantly surprised. We split our stay with CBR and I don't think it was worth the extra money. My kids definitely preferred AS Sports. The only thing I didn't like was the turbo toilets. Boy, they are loud but I bet they never get clogged! My kids thought they were the coolest things! I will bring a white noise machine in the future. Have fun!
