Did you know you don't have to be 50 yrs old to join AARP! I joined and looked at a rental for next weekend with Budget and got a AARP price of $210 for a SUV for a week.

The membership for AARP is normally $16 but if you join and select auto renewal your first yrs dues are $12.00

Oh and you can get a 10% discount at Landry restaruants which are Rainforest, T-Rex and Yak and Yeti.

Can you tell me if your AARP rental includes an extra driver (spouse?)

FWIW: once you join AARP, you get alot of junk mail from them (i.e., mail delivered by the u.s. post office). It's endless, and a waste of trees. (This was even after opting out of ads, etc.) We got renewal notices approximately biweekly, starting a month into our year membership; insurance come ons, medical care come ons, etc.... I canceled because the discounts were the same as AAA, which I know costs more but I travel alone sometimes so am keeping AAA for now. (I know AARP has auto coverage, but for my needs it wasn't as good as AAA.)

But it is true that you don't have to be 50!
