AAAHHHHH....$12 a day for parking at a hotel?

We are actually staying at the Clarion. From the reviews that most give of this perticular hotel, it isnt the best quality so it is odd to me that they charge for parking as though they are a Hyatt or Hilton, as far as I know that is about as much as the higher end places in the area charge.

Ahh, the Clarion Ho.....LOL The tel was burned out and as we drove past it to Joe's Crab Shack DD13 said "hey look, it's the Clarion Ho" not realizing exactly what she was saying....we all cracked up, it was pretty funny. They aren't the closest place to stay.....and I can't imagine they are charging for parking......hotels that are worried about convention center parking should charge for people who can't prove they are staying at the hotel......I mean, most hotels give you a parking pass so they know you are staying there and they won't tow you......I'm not sure what's close by, let me check on that for you. :)

I remember those parking charges..uhg! It can detract from the overall price you get on priceline, but as others said, you still end up saving money in the long run. The Hilton was $15/night to park in their creepy garage...the Doubletree near Orange was $12/night per car..

Now I'm going to stay at the BW Anaheim Inn w/my Dad the weekend before Christmas. I just realized they only allow 1 car per room. Since my Dad and I live in different parts of California, we have to drive there separately..Does anyone know if they just charge you for an extra parking spot?

I have a Premium Annual Pass, which includes parking at Disney lots, but I don't think it's allowable or advised to park there overnight.

Disney won't allow you to park overnight in their lots, they reserve the right to tow you if you're there an hour past closing. Same with DTD. Call them and see what they say.

I'm presuming you are driving from home, but if you're flying and then renting cars maybe you could take a shuttle and only rent the cars (or large van) for the days you need them for day trips or whatever.

We are driving in from Arizona. We could darn near fly for close to the price of gas and parking.

That is to funny...My DS5 is just learning how to read so I can definatly relate. He reads everything...and not always correctly to begin with. Thank you for the help.

Ouch--that's $108/car, isn't it? I'm sorry! :(

If you have someone who is driving solo (or two people who can ride one way with someone else for the way there or back) I would definitely strongly consider flying them out. You could even look for last minute airfare deals. (Er, maybe not on Priceline. ;) ) Not sure Phoenix has so many last-minute deals, though, come to think of it. Always worth a try though.

Or I suppose you could call with a hypothetical and ask if it's for sure $12 per vehicle, or if that's more of a "resort fee" that's charged to each room. (Which would still be $24/day if you have two rooms, but that's still a savings of $108 if you can talk them into it, right?...)

It looks like the long-term parking around John Wayne Airport (not horribly far from Disneyland) is $10-$12/day, so I'm not sure there's a way to get out of it by trying to park elsewhere. California can be so annoying sometimes.... I wish I could be of more help!

Hotels such as the Fairfield Inn a/f Disney on Harbor and Comfort Suites do not charge for parking.

A lot of the hotels are charging for parking. I didn't get online last night OP but the only thing I can think of is there are a few diner type restaurants and a Target (and a few other stores) down Harbor, past the Clarion Ho but maybe close enough you could park and get rides back to the hotel from others in your group. That's a lot of driving around tho, not sure it's really worth it and you'd probably want to move the cars parked elsewhere around to be safe.......

Every hotel that we've stayed in in Anaheim, Los Angeles, and San Francisco has charged a similar fee to park. If you think $12 is bad, you definitely wouldn't have wanted to stay where we stayed in San Francisco. We haven't encountered parking fees like this at hotels in other states... I guess land and parking is at a premium in California.

Unfortunately I stayed there in April of this year and it was a parking charge exclusively, not a resort fee.

That's so true. We stayed at the Holiday Inn near Fisherman's Wharf (still a few blocks away), and it was $30+ a night for parking (I'm trying not to exaggerate, but it may have been $40/night).

Oh yes, parking in SF is outrageous!!! there are some hotels in the Anaheim area that don't charge parking tho, the HoJo doesn't, we just stayed at the Ramada Limited Main North and they didn't, we've stayed at the Days Inn on Ball and they didn't. Not every hotel does but most do. We will be paying $8 a day for valet at the Peacock, it's mandatory, they won't let you self park.....

Ugh I hate mandatory valet parking, and not necessarily for the fee! It's more that I'm embarrassed because when I think "valet" I think of nice, expensive cars, not my filthy, dented up 2-door Civic filled with granola bar wrappers and cat fur lol.

LOL, I know what you mean..I drive an old beat-up Camry and feel silly if I ever take my car to the car-wash (and pay other people to wash it for me-- this happens rarely, but I love when they vacuum it out!)

We are driving the mini van, it too has granola bar wrappers, water bottles, shoes, jackets, cat & dog fur.....and so much more....LOL Not to mention dents and scratches. But there's no way I'd want to park in their lot either...OMG, it's horrible, soooooooooo tiny and the spaces are so close together. Those valet guys are super good at parking and they are really nice. Besides, it's really the only "fee" we have to pay because we are using our timeshare points to stay there.....so $8 a day for a hotel is not bad at all. :)
