Okay, so we're scheduled to go down to OKW for 11 days, 2BR during very expensive outrageous high season.

Hubby can't get off work, and parents said they are to sick to go....

So it's just me and DD-6 in a 2BR at OKW.

****

I've done some damage control, and moved the Fri / Sat stays to studios, so got back 180 points (into Holding) of the 550 ish.

But I am so bummed. I don't want to go to Disney alone!!!! I guess it'll be a good chance for me and daughter to bond, but I'm so disappointed.

I even scheduled a Wishes FW cruise for this Wed (so if you see just 2 people, it's me Goldi).

What a bummer!!!!!

and now I'm starting to come down with a cold too.....

Waaaaahh, Goldi

how about changing the 2-bedroom to a studio (OKW has 2 queen beds) stay for the whole time - or at least a 1-bedroom - you daughter can sleep on the sleeper sofa in the livingroom.

that is alot of points - for just 2 of you.

Sorry you are going with husband that is a big PAIN.

Everything is sold out at Disney (DVC), except for some hotel rooms, which are about the same, and I rather have the washer / dryer...

Anyone want to come down and stay with me for a few days, if your within driving distance....???

I've asked a few friends (Sunday March 27 - Friday April 1), and so far no takers....

dont TEASE us with that offer!!!

I am so sorry you are having to spend so many points, but maybe your venting now will allow you to enjoy a vacation that you hadn't really planned on having. One that is more relaxed with plenty of room. You and your daughter will have a wonderful time together! I was planning on doing some mom/son trips this spring and fall, but that will have to wait til next year with a new baby coming.

*hug* I hope you feel better soon and that your cold goes away quickly!

Try not to let the point expense bum you out. You will have a wonderful time and your daughter will NEVER forget this special time with you. :wizard:

only like a 6-8 hour drive, right????

LOL...

Okay, I'll try to have a good time. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

In the meantime, the April 1,2, I got a studio at VWL, and I never stayed at the VWL, so will get to check that out too!

lol we will already be there the 3rd - 8th (going to the beach the 1st and 2nd). Driving it that way, it seems shorter, but yes - 6-8 hours depending on stops, etc.

Have a blast hun! Maybe we will see you at the pool checking out the new slide. :)

Wish we could help you out but we already have a room at BWV starting Sunday. We'd offer to split your fireworks cruise with you but we'll be headed home that day. :( Good luck and try not to think about the points - just think of it as quality time with your DD.

I didn't even think about the FW cruise!!! Are you looking for more people to try to take up some of the cost?

There are 4 adults and 3 children in my group for this next trip. I don't know what the limits are or how exactly they work, but if you are looking, let me know (if we fit numbers wise!)

If you are driving, you can pick me up in Carbondale??? :rotfl2: Officially, it would have to be a kidnapping (so I wouldn't get in trouble with my DH and supervisor), but, I would go willingly vis a vis Patty Hearst.. :rolleyes1

saw united at $133 rount trip from Ohare...

and I paid about $250 each...

so no, can't pick you up, but there is cheap airfare!

I have another family that will split the MW FW cruise with me, Thanks....

and now my girlfriend is thinking of coming, but hasn't committed yet...

Maybe other DIS DVCers down at the same time will see your post and arrange different meet times to share your vacation. Why not ask other DISers if they are arround the same time and arrange a couple of meets. Hopefully you may find someone in a similar situation as yourself.

Good luck and enjoy the time you have. You have loads of years for your family to go together and enjoy yourselves.

Hope you have a great time and we will be thinking of you.

6 is a great age for you and your DD to enjoy the time together.

Susan

P.S. Wish I could be there with you but it is a long flight from London!

I am very glad to hear that some things are coming together for you!

I'm just north of you, in Michigan, I could run away from home, and join you on your trip! :goodvibes When did you find a sale on tickets from O"hare? I wanted to leave today, but $870 was a bit out of my price range....this is the first time in 14 years that I stayed home during spring break, and I am not a happy camper right now :sad2: Both DD's in Chicago were sick just last week. Is everyone sick there?

I recently booked the "4th Annual Mom & Daughter trip" for August. Started when DD was 10, she'll be 14 for this one. We go just before school starts, and we have a great time! It's a nice bit of bonding before all the craziness of homework, activities, etc.

I saw the airfare on www.sidestep.com

Yes, it seems like the flu is going around here in chicago....

I"m flying out tomorrow morning... so if anyone is really trying to do this call me on my cell phone.

Bon Voyage...

I say keep it! Think of how many people on here you would make jeleous that you got a 2 bedroom just for you and your daughter!

Yep, points to spend and why not stretch out a little? LOL!!

Of course, I would still attempt to get a smaller room for more of the time there. You could inform the front desk (and speak loudly so everyone else can hear you) that you have such a LARGE room and would love to be able to trade it for a SMALLER room, if anyone would be willing to take up the extra slack for a discount (maybe $5 per point above their current stay).
