Aaaaaaaargh!!!

We just got back from a trip with my mom and dad. My husband and I are 39 and 40 and my mom and dad are 61 and 62. We went without kids and we had the BEST time! At first my mom and dad were thinking they were the oldest there but the more we looked around we saw couples much older than them and everyone were looking like they were having the time of their lives!

Robo is right...we need to keep this to ourselves...can you imagine what the crowds would be like if everyone "gets it" like we do? :scared1:

Seriously, my wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary last December and it was our first trip without any kids in about 23 years (went there when we were courting and honeymooned there). We had forgotten how much we enjoy being alone together. :lovestruc

We will still bring kids/grandkids for trips earlier in the year when they can make it, but from now on December belongs to us and us alone. :woohoo:

Rides...characters...autographs...shows. I was in the service and we have been to a lot of places. There's no other place on the entire planet we would rather be.

The conversation I had the other day:

The scene: I was at the Dr's office, at the desk making a follow up appointment. Also keep in mind, I am 24 years old, not married, no kids.

Receptionist: "I have January 25 and 26 open."
Me: "Could I do the week before? I'll be out of town starting the 24th"
Receptionist: "Oh are you going some place warm?!"
Me: "Actually I'm going to Disneyworld"
Receptionist: "How nice, you're kids will have a nice break from the cold weather!"
Me: "I don't actually have kids..I'm going with my best girlfriend"
Receptionist: "...then why would you go to Disney, that's for little kids"

Some people just don't get it. :confused3

I just remembered something funny that happened last year when my daughter and I went to Disneyland Paris. We were standing behind a rope watching a show outdoors and afterwards the characters came round signing autographs and having their pictures taken. We'd got there early as we particularly wanted to meet the Evil Queen from Snow White. A Spanish woman was behind us and kept pushing her small daughter between us to get to the front. My daughter said that we'd been waiting a long time because we wanted to meet the characters and the woman said: "But you're too old for that". My daughter was thrilled - she was 27 at the time. :rotfl: So it seems the same attitude prevails around the world!! (And we never did manage to meet the Evil Queen!!!)

:confused3 sounds to me like you did.;)

reminds me of when me and DH (in our 40s) went to the Disney on Ice earlier this year. people were looking at us because we didnt have any kids with us and the ticket taker also commented! lol  I let her know that we left our son at home :rotfl2:

WHY on earth would anyone take children to Disneyworld???? (I'm tongue in cheek but also remember a few screaming hissy fits witnessed. at various times and places in the world.)

I am 51 and DH is 66...HE will be the silver-haired geezer laughing on TOT (while I tremble on the ground). We've gone with children ONE time and find them to really 'harsh our buzz'. LOL. It's much nicer to be free and flexible and NOT have a meltdown if we don't get to see MIckey Mouse this trip.

We are taking a 5yr old grandson in December...it may be the one and only time...if ya get my drift. ;)

We meet a lovely couple in thier mid 80's on our trip last month. They were adorable and very sweet and avid WDW fans, even at thier age they were braving late August heat to get some magic. I told my DH that I hope when we are thier age that we can still enjoy WDW's magic too. You are never too old for WDW.

Maybe her parents or grandparents don't do rides and she thinks everyone that age doesn't. :upsidedow Either way, open mouth...insert foot. We're brining my mom (64) this time, and she's excited to do the rides as well. Though, she is NOT a fan of the Tower of Terror. :lmao:
