I have a question and I know you guys will have the answers.

I am considering renewing my AP with the mailer that came out a week or so ago. I need to do this by 03/28/2010.

We have reservations in October with the AAA rate is it was cheaper than the APH rate. As a rule, do the APH rates usually come down a bit and end up cheaper than the AAA rate?

Thanks

I'm in the same boat, but our APH isn't up for renewal until September. Currently, the best rate I could find for our October trip is with the AAA rate as well. I'm hoping that cheaper APH rates are released for October in late Summer or early Fall. If they are, we will switch to the APH rate; Otherwise, we'll keep our AAA rate.

Another option is the stay and save rate. If your staying for 5 days or more, the stay and save rate should be better, if it's available. The AAA rate is comparable to the stay and save rate of a 4 day stay.

It can go either way -- My November ressie was less with APH, in January it was AAA. I *think* I remember mac saying the AAA is usually a better deal, though.

Although I can't tell you what to do about renewal, my best tip is to call right before you leave -- I called 2 days before my Jan trip to see if either rate had gone down, and I saved $150 with one phone call!

My March APH rate was a lot better than the AAA rate but it changes day to day. You can make a reservation then keep checking back. If you find that one version gives you a better discount they will change it for you.

Which number are you guys calling for the AAA and APH rates or do you book thru the Loews hotel website? What is the typical AAA discount?

Thanks

it depends on your dates for which discount, AAA or APH, is best.

for october, the AAA has been cheaper than the APH rates.

i can remember one time 4 or 5 years ago that the APH dropped lower than the AAA rate for October.

that rate drop was announced in mid september though.

right now, the APH is very good for the summer months this year.

when i first bought my APH, i received a 20% discount for food and merch in the parks.

It might have been 4 years ago when that discount rate dropped to only 10%.

AAA also gives a 10% off of food and merch in the parks as the preferred annual pass.

the premiere annual pass has a greater rate discount than the preferred annual pass.

but, the cost is quite a bit more for the premiere one.

the AAA card has paid for itself many times over for me.
i use it for hotels, ordering on line from their site, road service, etc, beside the parks.

So AAA discount is only 10%? Doesn't seem like anything to be excited about.

How does the Power Pass compare to the for the APH discount? Isn't the price the same for any AP type since you are using the APH rate code?

We usually go Nov/Dec if that makes any difference.
