We are taking a road trip in July. We are a member of AAA. I will go and get a trip ticket. I know they sometimes tell you where construction is taking place etc. Are they pretty reliable? Just wondering if I
can rely on their recommendations?

They are, but when is the last time you got a trip ticket? It could vary by region but in Western NY, they really push you to get the electronic trip ticket which is basically their version of MapQuest. Still comes in a booklet form and shows construction, etc and they give it to you instantly as it can be printed while you wait. But it doesn't have that highlighted route like the early days did. It's electronic map like you'd get from google, but created with the AAA software. They still offer the "old-fashioned" trip ticket here but they don't do it on the spot, it has to be ordered and takes a good week.

Yes they like to wait about 5 days before your trip to print it so that they can log into the DOT system and get the most current construction info.

Ok, thanks so much for the information. Yes, I was talking about the little book they used to give you where they added the pages and then highlighted the construction manually.
A printout would be fine. We are going in July, so I won't get it until a week or so before.
