I was wondering if someone can tell me the benefits of buying our Hopper passes through AAA. We already have reservations at Candy Cane Inn, but are debating whether to just purchase tickets from AAA or another outlet. Any thoughts or other great deals out there?

We are looking at spending 4 days in the parks - Tuesday through Friday - July 10-13.

Thanks!

for me there are only 2 benefits....

1. free parking if your driving to the park

2. if you have a AAA office in your city you can purchase the tickets there
and save having to get the shipped:confused3

The only extra benefit that we received was the discount on the hotel and discount on resteraunts that accept AAA discount.

If I may make a suggestion...

I go on a LOT of business trips through my job. It has been my experience that because I am attending a conference or convention, I am able to buy convention priced park admission tickets for myself and my family. Typically the discounts are REALLY good, far better than these wholesale ticket agencies you see online. For example, for my next trip, I am going to a conference at Disneyland. Regular price for 4 day park hoppers for an adult is $179, however, my price is only $139! There are 4 of us going so in the end I am saving $160! :cloud9:

I'm sure you are thinking by now, "Gee, thanks for rubbbing it in, I'm not going to any convention or conference so I can't get a discount."

Well, not necessarily. I suggest looking at the Anaheim Convention Center calendar on their website. Find a convention that is open to the public around the time you are going and that is not expensive to attend. Some are free, some are as low as $20, sometimes more.

The point is it may be well worth registering for a conference in order to get cheaper tickets. You don't have to go if you don't want to. You won't be cheating money out of anyone as long as you register and pay for the convention for at least 1 of you, that is all that is required for a family to get discount tickets.

OK, so where is this magical place where I can get discount tickets you ask? Simply go to conventionguest.com/dlr and enter info about what convention you are attending and place your order online at least 10 calendar days before you need them. That's it, enjoy!

According to the AAA brouchure, you get a Diamond Card in addition to free parking when you buy your parkhopper through AAA. This gives you some additional discounts that you apparently would not get with your AAA card alone. The discounts seem to primarily apply to DTD stores and restaurants. I have a few more details on it in case anyone is interested.

actually you do not need to attend the conference to get the tickets. You just have to know the website address and go after the cut off date for ticket sales and before mid december.

We used gay days tickets last year. They cut off sales end of Sept and then sent them out. We went beginning of December and had no problems using them.

find a convention that the dates work for your plans and do a internet search for the website address.

usually it is something like conventiontickets.com/(name of convention)

Local AAA seems kinda useless. I can not find out what the "Diamond Card" includes. Some one previously posted that you get a 20% coupon if you get the tickets thru Disney? Anyone really know?

Thanks,

First off, a disclaimer. My AAA agent (who is actually not useless when it comes to Disney info) told me about the Diamond Card when I enquired about a package. When I asked for details, he provided me a copy of a flyer that details discounts as a "AAA Vacations Guest". I am under the impression that this is a separate card, not the normal AAA card. I am not 100% positive that you get all of these discounts when you just order passes, however, the 2007 AAA brouchure lists as a benefit under "Disney Passport Plus - The fantasy and fun of the Disneyland Resort -- without the accomodations", the "Exclusive AAA Vacations Diamond Card" as well as the "Exclusive AAA FREE Parking". The flyer I was provided noted:

At DTD:
ESPN: Free childs meal with adult entree
House of Blues: 20% off dining before 5 PM
La Brea Bakery: 10% off purchase of $10 or more
Naples: 10%
Rainforest: Free kids meal with adult entree
Jazz Kitchen: 10% off
Tortilla Joes: 10% off
Wetzel's: Buy 2 pretzels, get 3rd free
Arribas Bros: 10% purchase of $50 or more
Basin: 15% off purchase of $20 or more
Build a Bear: $5 or $25 purchase
Cartoon of You: $2 off cartoon
Club Libby Lu: Free create your own potion with $25 purchase
Dept 56: 10% off selected merchandise
Hairwraps: 10%
Illuminations: 20%
Lego Center: $5 off $30 purchase
Something Silver: 15% selected merchandise
Tattoos: 10% off
The Pearl Factory: Free pearl bearing oyster with and 14L setting starting at $17.99

Also:
10% off character dining -- this is interesting. It notes PCH Grill, Goofy's Kitchen, Ariel's Grooto, Plaza Inn, and Wine Country Trattoria -- but Wine Country Trattoria is not character dining; it doesn't note Story Tellers. 10% off some character dining is available with regular AAA card alone; this may not be part of the "Diamond Card"

World of Disney and More - 10% off single purchase of $50 or more on selected products at one of the participating locations ... I think this might be a vouchure and may not be a part of the "Diamond Card"

The cost of parkhoppers through AAA (according to my brouchure):
3-day: $160 adult/$130 child
4-day: $180/$150
5-day: $190/$180
(an additional $10 handling fee will be charged per mailing address)

AAA members also get 20% off Walk in Walt's Footsteps, emergency towing, and some hotel discounts with their regular AAA card.

Thanks for taking the time to post all the info. I am awaiting a call back from the state office about the card. Maybe they can give me some affirmation on the diamond card with the purchase of the PH's.
