I just called CRO and applied AAA to my AKL-C ressie, and saved $426, going from $501/night to $430 a night. That's a savings of $71 a night, and $426 total so far. ($3010 down to $2584)

Now this may not seem like much, but every bit helps. I have faith that this ressie will be changed at least two more times over the coming months, saving me even more with AP rates and then saving even more with a room-only code. And then a postcard to cap it all off!

The CM was so nice, was knowledgeable, and congratulated me on the savings. He did ask for my AAA number, which will expire before my trip, told me to remember to renew it, and then told me to watch for AP rates. He said they won't be out for a while for summer, but he thinks by December.

So don't fret the high rack rates! Have hope for the coming of the discounts!

Planning is so much fun!

This is good to know as I plan for our June '04 trip. Thanks!

FWIW, Aisling, the AAA always apply (one of the few discounts that do), unless you start getting into the larger rooms like suites, etc. If the AAA rates aren't there by the time you make your ressies, it's because other people already got them. :( So book AAA rates early, they can always be changed later if you find a better deal!

When would AAA rates for June/July 2004 come out?

They're out. AAA rates for all of 2004 have been released. I have mine for October 2004.

Where do we find the 2004 AAA rates?

You don't really "find" them. They are released, so you call CRO tell them when you want to go, where you want to stay, and ask if they have a AAA discount for that time/resort. If they do, they'll tell you the rate. I've never seen the actual discounts officially published. It depends on when and where you are staying.

There is more info on the mousesavers.com website about AAA discounts. They vary by season (greater in value, less in peak) and by level of resort. I have one for my Feb. peak season trip, it is only 10% at a Deluxe, basically about covers room taxes.

Booked a std room only AAA rate at Pop Century this morning for March 04, $103.30/night including tax.

Not a huge discount but better than nothing :)

Hi Aisling,
I just wanted to thank you for your post as it inspired me to join AAA and call for discounted rates on my July trip. You helped me save $326 over my five nights. Like you, I am obviously hoping for better discounts, but at least I know that I am not paying rack rate. In essence, with this extra discount even if there are no Ap rates, you have bought me my birthday dinner and a good part of my anniversary dinner with those AAA savings. Thanks again!:D

Can anyone find out how much it would cost with the AAA rate for July 10 for 4 nights at the YC standard room? I do not have AAA but would join if the discount is good, they will not even tell the AAA rate without a membership #. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try calling back and talking to a different CM. I was given rates without anyone asking for my AAA number. I was given a quote of $330.20 per night including tax at the Yacht Club for the last week of June. I think July is a different rate period though.

crs7568,

I'm so happy I helped! I've learned so much from these boards!
Let's keep our fingers crossed for more discounts. I see we'll both be in Disney at the same tims, so we have lots of time for those codes to come out, but they will!

How much is AAA membership? Sounds like it is well worth it if you can get the rate discount.

Thanks so much guys, I called back and actually used my father in laws AAA card got a rate and saved about $250. Now I will just have to go out and get my membership before I go and just change the member id number on the reservation. The CM said I had to show the AAA card at the time of chec in and all she asked for was the number not the name on the AAA card. So I will be going out this week and getting my membership card. I am really excited, I hope some codes come out and make it even lower!!!

I called today and got a AAA rate at CR for 2 nights prior to my wedding. None are available for the honeymoon suites at WL but maybe I'll get lucky with an AP rate in March.

plutosmyfav, in NY I got a membership for about $55 dollars. It is a good thing to have anyway for roadside assistance and you can get some good deals on hotels. IMHO, it is worth it.

Are AAA discounts good for concierge rooms too? We've been AAA members for years but always used the DC discount if we didn't get a code, but since DC won't be around for our trips next year, we're looking into something else.

Yes, my discount is for a concierge room. Again, the discount is not tremendous, it is about 10%-15% off rack rates, but it is definitley better than nothing!
