AAA-the run down on discounts

ok I have always wondered just what you get when you book a package with AAA. Today I stopped off at my local AAA office ( which I did not know was here in town when I booked over the phone with another AAA office in another city ) But in any case I picked up the WDW AAA happiest celepbration on earth booklet dated JAN 1-DEC 31 2006 I did not see any for 2007. In any case this is what was stated and I am hoping to be similair next year.

well, I am sorely disappointed with AAA.

I got a quote today for MYW at CS for 5 nites. I asked for 3 day tickets with expiration and no Park hopping. My quote was $1685.76.

After reading many other peoples disappointments with AAA, I called CRO.

My quote for the same scenario was $1451.96

Now folks that is rack rate.

SO ... I say so much for AAA and them claiming they give discounts.

There was no travel insurance because I declined it both with AAA & Disney.

I am calling them tomorrow and asking for an explanation. I could see no discount but to quote higher by $200 is truly unbelievable.

No AAA discount because I was doing a pkg. I can only get a discount with room only.

She told me AAA would afford me a discount with my pkg.

Guess that is a joke!

I was just trying to come up with scenarios that made the total be either of your quotes...unfortunately, not knowing your travel details it's kind of hard. Would you mind sharing?

I just reserved a room at ASMU during spring break (peak season) with a AAA discount for $101 per night. I believe it is approximately 15% off rack rate. I've never priced a package through AAA. We generally book through CRO using AAA room only discount and purchase park tickets ourselves.

I priced the following w/CRO and AAA today:

6 nights May 23-29 with Dining at POFQ for 2 adults and a 5 year old. This included a 1 day base ticket for all (we have some left over tickets from a previous trip). The price was about $200 less with AAA. I thought that was pretty good!

I had the same experience as Kayleebug. I priced a MYW plus dining package through the Disney website for our Nov/Dec '07 trip. Disney quoted $2,342.28, and AAA quoted $2,146.44. That's very near a savings of $200.

QUESTION: Does anyone know if you still get the free 5x7 photopass offer if you book your package through AAA, or do you only get that if you book through Disney Travel Co? I'm thinking you don't because you get the Disney Story Time offer instead. Anyone know for sure? Thanks!

The photo ( I believe) is part of the 2007 package rate/ I did not know about the story time. But TA told me about the photo inclusion.

Hi all!

DH booked a surprise trip for me throuogh AAA. I have not talked to the TA and the info she gave him was lacking IMHO. He booked airfare, POFQ, MYW premium for Jan 16-21. I found more info online through Disney's site than the TA gave us esp regarding the dining included in the premium pkg. I also found that La Nouba would be closed the week we're there, TA hd no clue until DH asked about a replacement activity. That was several wks ago and the only answer we could get was ask a CM when we arrive, she isn't doing anything to get an answer for him. I'm also getting conflicting info regarding ME and who is booking our transport. It's about 45 days out for us so I expect to get our confirmation next week. if it's not right, I'm going to be one very unhappy woman. DH saved for 3 yrs; without me knowing, to take me back to WDW so I'm going to make sure that he feels I'm getting the best trip possible.

I joined DIS after he made the reservation so I didn't have the advantave of all the really good info available here but I hope that every one takes the time to compare offers and make sure they are getting everything they are expecting when booking your trip.

We use a AAA package each year. They generally save us $200 (with trip insurance added).

Booked 2 standard rooms at POP, 5 adults, 8 day base tickets, no insurance, April 26 - May 4, 2007: saved $248. by booking at AAA.

DH booked our upcoming trip as a surprise for me but tried AAA first and was quoted around 1600 for POR Jan 1-6 with DDP. Disney gave him the same at 1200. I don't know what he said to CRO but he said he was asking for FL res, teacher, AAA, Disney Visa anything they could give him. In booking our trips, I find we get better rates by just using a general TA and seeing if they have teacher discounts.

I love AAA! Our TA there specializes in Disney World trips, and she has always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Not to mention, she's always gotten us good deals on packages and tickets, etc. Not just for Disney World either. In fact, she just called us today to say that our Disney Documents are in, along with a little 'gift'!!!

I can't wait to pick them up tomorrow!!!

I have to tell you I think it does make a difference which TA you book through. There are some that are very Disney savy and some that are just not with it at all. My local AAA TA's are horrible. I got a wonderful recommendation from this board and have had a great experience and a great discount. She even rebooked me with a different plan without my having to ask to save me $25. That is real dedication in my opinion.

I finally called back and got another TA and told them my prices. She kept me on hold for awhile and now I am saving about $75 for whole pkg.

I went for it because $75 is better than nothing

I am going during peak season so I am assuming this is why the discount is so little.

My AAA travel agent is also awesome. I book everything through her. She changes the dates, adds people, everything I ask. I also send her all my rebates that I receive from using my AAA VISA. I higly recommend this card if you book all your stuff through AAA. It is no annual fee and gives money back on gas purchases. I periodically receive $50 rebates. I apply them to the final payment of my Disney trips. I saved an additional $125 on my last trip to Disney just by booking with AAA and using their credit card.

Why would my discount only be for about 20$ in the value season for a value resort. Any ideas?
