AAA rates

What is the current AAA discount? I am planning on making our reservations at the Poly soon for our trip next year and I'm just wondering if it would be worth it to join AAA. I am planning on buying an AP if rates come out for our dates, but I wanted to have something else in case they don't or all the rooms get booked up so we don't have to pay rack rates.
Thanks!

With AAA, you can count on at least a 10% discount. Sometimes it's 15-20%, depending on time of year and resort and such. It's better than no discount! And, the discount on a deluxe resort for several nights would probably pay for a AAA membership.

Thanks for the info! We'll be going in October which is regular season so I'm guessing probably only the 10% discount would apply. But, you're right it's better than nothing!

Just by way of example, a WL with courtyard view in October is $261, with the regular rate being $290, which looks to be exactly 10 percent. Almost enough to pay the taxes!

Shelly3girls--Do they change the AAA rates every year? Do they only have so many rooms available at the AAA rate, kind of like AP's? Just when I thought I had everything all figured out!

From what I understand the AAA rates are released for the whole next year usually around late summer. I believe there are a limited number of rooms for the discount, but I do not think they are as difficult to get as an AP rate (we never had any difficulty). Maybe someone else can verify this.

In fact, if your region of AAA has online hotel reservations at AAA.com, often AAA has rooms available on their website which CRO is saying are sold out, because AAA must have their own block of rooms. This is the way I was able to get into the All-Star Movies, even though a lot of the time CRO will say that resort is unavailable. And, the AAA site must either feed directly into the Disney reservations computer, or else the two must connect frequently, because I was able to make the reservation the night before arrival, and Disney had the reservation when I got there.

Decker96 -- Just to let you know, you don't have to have the AAA membership number when you reserve your room -- only when checking in. So you could book with the AAA rate and wait to see if any better discounts come out before you join.

I'd like to add, however, that we have really benefited from having the AAA membership and I would encourage people to join anyway.

I'm also waiting for the '05 rates. Aren't they normally out by this time?? I hope they release them soon.

Thanks Fridye -- that was going to be my next question. I haven't belonged to AAA for a long time, so I'll have to check what all the benefits are now. We have GM roadside protection with both our cars, so I don't know if AAA would be redundant or not.

I booked 3 rooms at POP Century for Dec using AAA today - rate was $64 a nite. Still hoping for a postcard or email. ::yes::

I already had my trip for next week to PC booked in March, but I forgot about the AAA rates and took a chance calling to see if any were left today and I was able to get a rate of $92 a night for Preferred building at PC. It was a 20% savings!
I also received a postcard with PIN, but it's not for when I am going.
