AAA rates?

We (my TA and I) have just calculated what
the discount is by booking a AAA Gold Package
with their discount and I was disappointed to
say the least. We calculated 4% at most!!!
We are staying 10 days at BC - Gold package.
I thought AAA rates were similar to DC rates
(about 20%).
What are we doing wrong-maybe we didn't
ask for the right thing?
Any suggestions?

During August of 2002 I made reservations at POR for Thanksgiving 2003 as soon as the new AAA rates came out. Since not all my requested days were availabile immediately at the AAA rate (not entered into the computer) I updated my reservation Oct. 21, 2002 to include all my dates. I called directly to CRO both times and got a 20% discount. This is a room only reservation for two rooms. Call CRO directly and see what is available for your dates.

Howdy!! The 20% savings I think is only on a room-only reservation. We kind of looked into a AAA package for our first trip in 99 and based on pricing it out separately did not see any savings but that it was actually more expensive!! It sounds as if you will be receiving a moderate savings but that's why it isn't the 20% you may have been expecting.

I'd go with KLL and CrzyforPiglet on the room-only reservation. It's a lot cheaper going that route than it is with a package. My understanding of the package deals is you get a good deal on it if you wind up doing everything in the package. When I go, I spend most of my time in the parks and not doing the extra's, so for me the packages don't work. If on the rare occasion I want to do something extra then I just pay for it, but for me that doesn't happen very often.

The DC discount is exactly the same as AAA's.
I am not a fan of packages but if you must book one, at least with AAA you will get travel tags, preferred viewing spots and soda in a lounge

The gold package has an awful lot of food. Just be sure you'll have time to eat it all!

Ask you agent to price room only (no tickets) with the discount, and the basic package with the discount. Maybe the basic Dream maker package is discounted, but the Gold add on is not? In that case, if you want the tickets that come with the package, get the basic pkg & pay for meals and recreation as you go. Many people find that they do not eat as much or play as much as they had planned. There is just too much to do!

A friend of mine recently booked with AAA rates. The discount was pretty good. But she got just the room. They determined that they would have 2 non-park days during the week (shopping/pool) so they went with 5 day hoppers instead of the unlimited passes. They are going to do a mix of counter service & sit-down meals.

The AAA discount is 20% is for room only. I look in my AAA Going places magize I get in the mail and that what it says.

I know for sure the quote I got for the All-Star Sports including tax is 377.00 and for the CBR is think it was 596.00 but that seem a little high. I can't found the quote at the moment.

Found the quote for CBR is 546.00 including tax.

It's generally a better value to book everything a la carte as opposed to a package. You always wind up paying for some feature that you won't even wind up using.

We made good use of our Deluxe Plan in 2001
(we actually came out ahead-main reason is
the golf and watersports etc.-but we did do
more than our share of "deluxe eating"). Let me know
if you see any codes for Beach Club-Gold plan pkg.
