After reading that lots of you received AAA discounts for your 2004 reservations I called CRO this morning. They said that there are no AAA rates showing for the Pop Century for 2004! They do show AAA rates for all other resorts.

Can this be true? Has anyone gotten a 2004 AAA discount for the Pop Century? For those of you staying in 2003 at the Pop Century, did you get a AAA rate?

They did offer to let me change to any of the other All-Stars, but I am just going to wait it out.

Thanks.

I recommend you call back. Most of us have had the experience of inconsisent and/or inaccurate information from Disney. I called on Monday 6/30 and modified my Pop Century reservation to the AAA rate. We'll be there January 9 to 12 for the Marathon. The modification brought our rate down to $68.68 per night, tax included. Pretty good, as when I made the reservation this spring they gave me a rate of $99/night plus tax!

If at first you don't succeed, try again! Good luck:jester:

I called back again and CRO said that in their system, the Pop Century is showing AAA discounts thru Feb 18. I asked if all the resorts showing AAA discounts for the time period I wanted (4/17 - 4/25). She said they did and I asked her didn't that seem funny that the Pop Century was only thru 2/18. She said - no.

I asked if she could check with someone, she said - no. I give up for now. By the time I am done with phone calls to Florida, any discount I may have gotten will be gone in phone bills.

What a day.

I sent Disney Guest relations my question regarding this discount. I told them I booked a room-only reservation thru CRO, even gave the phone number I called. I told them that all resorts, value, moderate, and deluxe have AAA discounted room available for the time period I am going - which happens to be "regular season". I also told them I thought it was kind of odd that only the Pop Century, a value resort, was not offering any AAA discounts after 2/18. I ask if they could recheck, Here is the response I got:

The special offers for AAA member does require that you book with your local AAA agency. Currently the only offers I am showing for 2004 are package plans that would also include park admission. We suggest you give your local agency a call for further information.

Is it me or what. I have never had to book a room only reservation thru my AAA to get the AAA discount. So, I must be a glutton for punishment. I sent her another email.

It's been a long day.

I have 2 questions. 1st one. Is Pop Century a Disney resort or one like the Dolphin and Swan? Someone told me that it really wasn't a resort of Disney. The second one is that Disney isn't showing any prices for 2004 on their site. If we book a room reservation (we have CAA which is the same as AAA) and then have to cancel closer to the time is that a problem? We are looking at going the first of Feb. 2004.

I suggest you just keep checking. Or could it be because it is new that they aren't offering the AAA discount?

Tigercat, Pop Century is a Disney owned value resort. It is not like the Swan and Dolphin.

You can make your reservation now and cancel it without problems. There are deadlines but that would be closer to the time of the actual reservation. It depends on who you book the reservation with (CRO or WDW Travel) the cancellation deadlines.

Thanks Safetymom. Who is better to book with? We were thinking of doing it through Dreams but were thinking that with CAA we might get a better deal and then transfer (how do you do that) it to Dreams. I thought I could call and get the reservations using my CAA card #. Which one is better to contact though? I would kindof like to get quotes for Pop Century and PO, would they do that? My neice says that she knows everything about Disney, I wonder why she thinks that Pop Century isn't a Disney restort!!

Tigercat, Dreams U should be able to apply your CAA discount. I would use them. Why don't you tell your neice about these boards. You can always learn something here.

She knows about these boards but says that the only Disney boards worth going to is the Disney board. That's okay because I would then be afraid to post some of the things I post.
I will ask Dreams but I thought that the CAA discount had to be applied by the person him/herself.

I just got an e-mail from Dreams concerning my 2004 reservation and they said that AAA is the only discount that they can't apply. I would assume the same holds true for CAA.
