AAA rate question

We do not currently have AAA, but will be purchasing soon. We currently have another car club membership (through the purchase of our vehicle) that we received for free that we are waiting to expire before purchasing AAA rather than doubling up to get more bang for our buck, so to say. Does that make sense?

Anyhow, the question is... Is getting a AAA rate like getting an AP rate? Do you need to have it when you book, or just on check in (We will by then by a couple on months)? It would be a room only ressie, booked through CRO.

I used AAA to book our vacation package and needed to get the membership prior to booking the package. So, I would say yes.

The above poster is correct................when I booked for this past May, and just recently when I booked for my upcoming trip, they asked for my number.

Thanks!!

That's what I figured, but than began to think "what if...?"

They asked for my number, too, when I made my ressie. The first time in six trips--the policy must have changed.

Ditto. We just booked for July, 2007 and were asked by CRO for our AAA number.

I made our room only back in April for this Oct, they asked for the number but I didn't have it, it's my husbands card, so he had it at the time.

They gave the the rate and just said I have to show my card at check-in. It says it on my confirmation too.

You can call to make it and just say you haven't received your card yet. Again if you don't have it at check-in then no discount.

We've experienced both: having to have it to book room and just being told to show it at check-in.

You also will need to show it upon check in. The person that booked it and the name on the AAA card have to match. I don't know if it was just me, but they also asked for an ID photo of all the adults in my party. Not sure if it was due to AAA or it is just a formality.

If you book through AAA directly, they will not ask for the card but will tell you that you have to have it when checking in.

This isn't exactly true. The name of the person who books the ressie and the name of the person on the AAA card do not have to match. However, someone who will be in your travel party must be a AAA cardholder. I'm getting ready to do this for the second time. My mom is a AAA member, but I'll be the one booking the ressie. She will be traveling with me, and in May I had no problem with this, and just booked again for November and they said that this is fine. I did have to show her card and her ID to use it, though (she was about 10 feet away with my baby, so if there were questions she was very close by). Hope this helps someone!

Hmmm... I booked a room only through DU and I didn't need a number, was just told that I'd have to have it when we checked in. I haven't actually paid for the membership yet.

Now when I booked my AAA TA informed me as long as I had my membership by the time we left at time of check in it was fine! I just booked again and was not asked for my # again! I went to a location that was closer to my home but had the same thing!

DH's favorite bonus to the AAA is the parking pass we just loved that and he sued the card to buy me a souvenier! Mickey cookie cutter even on vacation that mans trying to get me to bake! lol

I already have a ressie for Pop, but was wondering if I could join AAA and then add discount to existing res. Anybody know? Thanks!

In regards to your AAA vs. AP rate question: when we went to POFQ last summer (regular season) our AAA rate was $131.75, the AP rate released was $119. So it was a little bit of a savings, but by the time we'd have purchased the DDE card it would've been about the same. I did price out our meals with the menus on allearsnet, but it worked out that the dining plan was a better deal for us (and I liked having it all paid in advance) so we stuck with our AAA package.
