AAA Questions

We are looking for POFQ the week of 10/15-22. They are booked at CSR but I heard on another board that it was available with AAA. Can anyone tell me how much it would cost me to join AAA to get the room or can I use a friends membership. Is this usually worth it?

I usually have much more time to plan our trips to DW and this is driving me crazy having to do it all in a month.

You can't use a friend's membership unless the friend will be rooming with you. In that case, his/her name would have to be on the reservation since the name on the membership card and the one on the ressie need to match.

A basic membership (with no additional members) costs $71 in the Mid-Atlantic AAA. You can go to aaa.com and click on the "Join AAA" link at the top of the page. After you put in your zipcode, it will bring up a page with the membership costs for your area.

Snce you plan to go during Regular Season, you can expect a discount of 15% off of the rack rate of $149/night at all moderate hotels that have AAA rooms available. A AAA discount would save you $156 for your 7-night stay. Even after you subtract the cost of membership, you would still come out ahead.

Membership cost would vary based on your location. Aside from the savings that you would get on your Disney vacation, there are other "perks" also.

First is just the roadside assistance. I have the Plus membership mainly for this purpose. When my car broke down out in Ohio and I needed to have it towed, it cost me a pretty penny. If I'd had the Plus membership then, it wouldn't have cost me anything. With Plus, they tow up to 100 miles.

In addition, I receive a discount on my car insurance rates because of AAA.

There are a number of benefits, so I think it is well worth the price of membership.
