I read on another thread how it was recommended that the person think about becoming a AAA member since he was driving a far distance and making an over night stay on the way down to WDW. We are doing this same thing. Would it be wise to become a member? I briefly looked at the website and saw there was the basic membership and plus membership. Which should I do and really what services would they offer us that would make it worthwhile getting the membership? Other than this trip, we rarely travel. Our last vacation was in 1999. Thanks

I rarely travel, either, but I cannot imagime not having an auto club membership. If you use it once, it pays for itself. If you have a flat tire, they will change it (free). If you have a dead battery, or run out of gas, they are there...no charge. Lock your keys in your car...they send a locksmith. Also, when you do travel, most hotels/motels offer AAA rates that can add up to a great savings. I think the plus option means you have a farther distance to be towed, if necessary. Go for it! It;s not that much, but it sure gives peace of mind!

GET THE MEMBERSHIP!!! I use this for more than just traveling. You get a monthly magazine that lists hundreds of local discounts you get with the card. For example, I know that LensCrafters is a partner, so you get like 10 or 20% off glasses. Reebok outlets are as well, and you get 20% off with that. The membership far pays for itself. I have locked my keys out of my car several times, and I just call AAA. I have the basic membership, and have found that it fulfills my needs just fine.

I just became an AAA member, mainly for the peace of mind as my Jetta is getting old and is constantly overheating...but I already saved $30 staying at the Coronado Springs Disney Resort with the AAA rate...and I will only be staying 1 night! If you stay 3 nights the AAA plus membership is already paid for...

If I get the AAA membership, would it affect the package deal that I already bought through Disney? Could I get a discount off my package? Sounds like it's worth it anyway for piece of mind since we are traveling so far. Thanks

I believe that in order to get the AAA rate on a Disney vacation you have to book through them. Some one will correct me if i"m wrong. :goodvibes

It couldn't hurt to call after purchasing your membership and seeing the offer they give. If your trip isn't too close you may be able to cancel your first arrangements and book through AAA if there is a big difference.

We purchased AAA and it has more than paid for itself with our upcoming trip to Universal.

AAA is great! I have been a member since I started driving. It has more than paid for itself every year. I booked through AAA and with my card got a slight discount even with free dining. It never hurts to ask. I wouldn't get the plus membership though. I had it one year and the only basic advantage is unlimited towing miles (not more tows).

The Plus benefit is worth it. It provides you with 100 miles of free towing when you break down. It comes in handy when you need to get towed to your own gas station or repair shop. The benefits of a AAA Membership are too numerous to mention. There is the Show Your Card and Save program, which will give you 10 % off of select purchases at many stores. (Hertz, LenCrafters, Disney packages, most Hotel rates, payless shoes).

When it is all said and done, it is basiclly free membership when you include all the savings.

Think of it this way, could over 50 + million people be wrong !!!

Join your local AAA and you'll enjoy the benefits.

go to WWW.AAA.COM :bounce:

I was getting the basic for years then last year out of the blue I upgraded to Plus. Don't know why but I did. Basic provides I think for about five mile tow. The plus provides for 100 miles. Well wouldn't you know it I get rear ended a month later and had to tow the car 40 miles. That alone paid for the additional cost.

Thank you I'm going to look into to getting it. It's not that expensive and it will be nice to have just in case. :)

The $200+ I saved on my vacation through AAA more than made up for cost of membership. Plus as mentioned you get many other discounts too. Also, they are sving money on my MCO Hyatt stay as well.

You do not have to book through AAA to get the discount, just mention you have it to the CM. You should be able to apply the discount to your current reservation, call and ask!

AAA is definitely worth it! We have been members for I don't know how many years now, and it has paid for itself. We don't travel a whole lot either(just to Disney mostly), but there are so many discounts on local attractions as well. Most zoos and theatres in our area offer a AAA discount, or you can go to a local AAA office to get the discount tickets. It is nice to have!!!! :thumbsup2

There is a Premier membership now that some AAA's are offering. I think it gives you like 300 or 500 miles of free towing.

I joined this year. I had to book my trip through AAA. I already had it through Disney they just requested it to be sent over to them. I know that we are staying at POFQ and I save $400.00 on my two rooms. I also save 15% off of all of the tours that I booked. To me it more than paid for itself. Also if you get travels check there is no charge if you get them from AAA. Michelle

You do need to book through AAA if you want a package. If you want room only discount then you can book through Disney. Michelle

Thanks again. I talked to dh and I think we are going to go with AAA. I'm glad to see that everyone likes it and there isn't one bad comment. :)
