I have a quick question. I have 7 night myw package + dining at Pop Century for the end of July. I booked through Disney with no discount. I just joined AAA. I am wondering if I can still get a discount. Someone told me I would have to go to a AAA office and have them rebook everything. I am a little worried that if I do this, something will get messed up and I will lose my reservations. Will this cancel my ADR'S?

Hi. I don't know about your ADRs, but I do know that if you want to get the AAA discount on a PACKAGE with dining, AAA needs to book it. I believe Disney reservations can apply a AAA discount on a room only but not a complete package with the dining. At least that's what we were told last year. Maybe you could ask your AAA travel agent about them re-booking your trip and keeing ADRs. I really don't know what happens to them. Good luck! Maybe someone else here will know about the ADRs! :)

If you cancel your current package reservation, it will not automatically cancel your ADRs. So, you can rebook the same dates through AAA to get your discount, and just keep your same ADRs! :goodvibes

Don't cancel your current reservations as you may not be able to get the same dates/resort as before (if your trip is soon-ish).. just take your confirmation number to AAA and have them take over your reservation. You will have to sign a form saying the TA is taking over your ressie. You will not be able to make any changes yourself anymore, you will have to go through the AAA TA, but you will be able to get the AAA room rates for your package. The dining and tickets will be the same as the discount is on the room rate only.
Your ADRs should not change at all.

Have a great vacation!

Thank you so much for your replies. I knew you all would have an answer. I guess I will make a plan to visit that AAA office.

Anytime BEFORE you have paid your final payment on a package reservation you can transfer your reservation to another TA (such as AAA)

Sorry but... I already paid for my whole trip, so I can't get the AAA discount, but can I maybe upgrade and get the discount on the room upgrade?

You can find a great agent here at the Dis boards and contact them via email. That is how I have done my last 2 AAA packages. But they are correct, cancel the one after you have the confirmation of your new AAA package.

If you are still more than 45 days out, you should be able to cancel your disney trip without penalty. So, you coudl go to aaa (you have to do this through aaa as stated above since they are the only ones who can book aaa packages) and make sure they can secure a reservation with their discount for you as you want. If that happens you can book that and cancel your disney one. Disney should refund your money but you may have to pay up at aaa before you get it back. Your best bet is to call aaa and let them know what you have and ask them what they can do for you. IF they don't atleast give the above suggestion, try calling another aaa office...you don't have to use your local office.

FORMER AAA TA here...
Your BEST bet is what was mentioned a couple of posts ago. Bring in your confirmation number to AAA and ask them to take over the reservation. The agent will need to type up a letter that you will need to sign and the letter will need to include all of your personal info (name, address, phone, etc) as well as your vacation information including which dates you are traveling and which resort you are staying at. Once the TA faxes it over to Disney, it will take about 48 hours for the transfer to go through. Disney will give your TA a new confirmation number. The other reservation number will just be gone since all of your information is in the system. Its just a new number for the same package. So you won't need to call them to cancel anything. Good luck! :thumbsup2

Also keep in mind that there has to be rooms available that have the AAA discount for the dates you are traveling. Just because you already have a reservation does mean you will get the discount. If AAA has used up their alotted number of rooms for your travel dates there wont be a discount on your package.
